The situation turned completely around in the best possible way. I decided to one star so that when people see poor reviews they see that my situation has changed in a wonderful direction due to the attention and good service provided by Ken Gauthier the Salem Store manager.
When I wrote the review I was operating with the information provided to me by a new Salesman at the Plaistow. I was told that I had seven days to return my dishwasher, even though I called after 3 days they were not going to take it back because of the video the repair man took of it working. After he got it working it stopped working again. But I was told the footage showed it working and offered to have the service department come back. I was told by the repair man that not all repairs were covered by the warrentee. If they did take it back, it would cost me 20 percent for them to come and get it. That wasn’t a problem because they would not take it back. This was the information that I was working with when I wrote the review. Now weather or not I would have been contacted if I had not written my experience with the is something I will never know. I do know that Ken Gauthier, Salem store manager, never asked me to update the review. I give him high marks for that. I am doing it because I am fair and honest. I honestly think that the Plaistow salesman forgot that I had purchased the 5 year Warrentee. What I understood from Ken Gouthier, was that the warrentee is for mechanical problems and they take everything back if you buy one. I am not sure if the repair man said that not all repairs are covered by the warrentee is due to the manufacturer.
Seven days was for cosmetic damage and one year and five year for mechanical problems. I was just told flat out they weren’t taking it back.
Ken Gauthier in Salem COMPLETELY turned the situation around. I am a completely satisfied customer.
As it turns out, Ken Gauthier said that they always work with the customer to make sure they are satisfied. I am Completely satisfied. I am deeply grateful for the follow-up. I went in and had a long talk with Ken G. He explained that all the Warrantees are individual to the company that manufactures the equipment. He transferred my 5 year warrentee. The manufacturing company took the dishwasher back, as well as paid for the cost to take the old one out. All I had to pay was the small difference between the machine that I was returning and the new machine. I am considering purchasing a fridge.
Initially, before Ken G. Called me another company had implied they may do a buy back and would help me find a new machine. When I got credit for a new machine I decided to take the chance with Barons again. I think the big difference with these reviews is that if there is a problem go to the store and talk to the manager.
I highly recommend the Salem store. I will go through them from now on. In all fairness, I may have been equally satisfied with the Plaistow store manager but he happened to be on vacation. I think it turned out the best possible outcome. I am a very satisfied customer so far. I will update the review again once I get the dishwasher and everything is completely resolved. So...
Read moreThe experience up until the sale and delivery was great. The sales person (Mike) was incredibly helpful and wasn't overbearing. Once we left the store and were contemplating which set to go with, he was incredibly responsive to emails with our questions. The buying experience was great.
However, that's when it went down hill. I'll caveat this that this was the first time I've purchased appliances. When we finally decided on which set to go with and were ready to pay, we were asked if we wanted the appliances installed (yes) and were told it would be $850 to install the fridge (plug it in and hook up the water line, 10 minutes), microwave (mount it to the wall/cabinets, maybe 30 minutes), range (plug it in and hook up the gas, maybe 30 minutes, but you do need a licensed plumber) and dishwasher (actually quite time intensive, roughly an hour). I felt a bit sandbagged regarding this charge and told them I'd do it myself and hire my own plumber (the time above is what it took me to do myself).
We received our appliances roughly a week later. Unfortunately, we had problems with each appliance. The range has a huge scratch on the oven door, the fridge had a scratch on both the freezer door and one of the refrigerator doors, the dishwasher's kick plate was bent almost 90 degrees and one of the bolt's that attach the microwave to the cabinets above was damaged and couldn't be used. Now, I realize this is more than likely GE's fault (we purchased the GE Cafe series) but Baron's was less than helpful with any of these problems. They will not allow you to exchange appliances that are cosmetically damaged (even though we spent more than $7k). We now have to wait 10 weeks to get the range and refrigerator/freezer doors replaced. It's been 3 weeks and I still don't have a replacement bolt for the microwave (I ended up purchasing a replacement bolt off Amazon yesterday) and haven't been able to use it. The kickplate on the dishwasher wasn't that big a deal because it's out of site and I'm just living with it. I don't know of any other business where you can spend so much money, only to have to wait 2+ months to get what you actually paid for. I contemplated returning the appliances but it just wasn't worth the hassle of uninstalling everything.
I regret going here and can't imagine I'll ever come back. Luckily I don't think I'll be need any more appliances for at least 10 years.
They do get +1 star, because the sales person honestly did his...
Read moreI would never ever recommend this company. I spent over $8000 on appliances from Baron’s, I regret it so much. My money was good, my Samsung appliances were terrible. My wife and I decided to remodel our kitchen and bathroom and laundry room. We thought it would be nice if we decided to purchase from a small company instead of a big box store. So we went to Baron’s. My wife wanted black stainless appliances for the kitchen and the sales person discourage us from getting them. We had to replace the refrigerator door. The computer system was faulty. The front of the microwave was starting to peel away so we had to replace that. They sent us a dishwasher that had fallen and was damaged before we even received it. The grates on the stove need to be replaced, they are supposedly Cast iron, they are rusty and they are chipping away. The little knobby feet keep falling off them. Someone had to come and fix our dryer because it wasn’t functioning correctly, and broke something that was in the laundry room and never told us. They denied breaking it, why would I break something myself and not take care of it. I now have a problem with my washing machine, it’s got some kind of leak and the control panel isn’t working correctly where it looks like Christmas lights flashing. They won’t be able to come fix it for three weeks but I still had to buy a part not even knowing what’s wrong with my washing machine. Every time something happens to any of my appliances it’s costing me more and more money to get them fixed because the warranty services aren’t very good. I started having problems from day one. I have now owned these products for only 2 1/2 years and have had endless problems. No one really seems to care anymore, it’s like screw that I neighbor. I cannot, and will not recommend this business, even to my...
