We love Savers for furniture items that we've restored but BUYER BEWARE ON CLOTHING PURCHASES!!!!! Ever since they removed the dressing rooms you cannot "exchange" clothing easily!! Just tried to exchange a pr of jeans that didn't fit & was rudely told that" I had to go pick something out right then in order to "return" them and not come back another day to shop"!!. I asked how I could do that without trying another pair on & was given shrugged shoulders!! It's an endless cycle of picking something out, driving home, returning to the store over & over and they won't even give you store credit, which is ridiculous. By the time you pay for gas back & forth you're behind financially with your "bargain" price!! HELLO CORPORATE..Why not just put a couple dressing rooms back in so your employees don't get badgered with this ridiculous policy?!! I was soo upset I left with the jeans & am going to donate them to Goodwill vs just donating them back to Savers. I understand it's mission to donate to it's charity, however, good business sense tells you that the easier you make it for customers to shop, the more they'll return & spend!! Goodwill allows returns/ store credits/ refunds on clothing with tags attached & your receipt and they're non profit too!! Savers corporate needs someone with retail business sense in the...
Read moreIf you’re looking for old junk, here’s your store. If you’re looking for high prices for worn out or dirty kitchenware, you’ll LOVE THIS STORE. I thrift a lot. Mostly, I go straight to the housewares, furniture, and home decor areas. The furniture selection found here today was no better than a trash day. I’m talking about broken, and frequently uncleaned items, and stuff that has a few years to go in order to be considered vintage or even interesting. Does no one in the Plaistow area donate furniture? Is it just not worth the trip, versus having a large item hauled or brought to the dump where it would COST money? Maybe no one in this area bought any decent furniture 30 years ago or more? I was hard pressed to find clothing that wasn’t poly, and the same can go for the sheets, blankets and curtains. I considered myself lucky to find 100% cotton curtains. I took the two pairs that seemed the least stained. I found nothing in decor at all. A bunch of cheap frames with ugly prints that likely was bought at a Caldor or Anne & Hope. Nothing worth purchasing for a reuse or upcycle. No-Thing. Their prices don’t reflect the actual value of the items. If a poly blouse costs 15 new, what are they doing pricing the used blouse for 10? What is the motivation to buy used clothing in order to cut back on...

....
I find great deals at this Savers store usually! Some things are overpriced (mostly clothing) but every now and then I find a great bargain.
My only real complaint is that it's dirty. The doors haven't been cleaned in years. It's the first thing people see when they're walking in! The bathrooms are usually disgusting. Yesterday, the ladies room smelled so bad I had to hold toilet paper over my nose. I looked in the maxi pad bin and it was full of old bloody pads. That's where the smell was coming from. There was also toilet paper and debris everywhere. The carts often have the same debris in them for weeks. How does nobody clean this stuff?
One last thing... Price tags are often missing on things, and the times that my partner and I have gone up to get something priced, the manager treats is suspiciously, as if we removed the tag on purpose. She will then mark it up much higher than it normally would be. So, not only is it a pain to have to get a price, it's usually not a good iron. Seems unfair.
I really do like this Savers store. I just wish it were cleaner. Have someone wash the doors, have a bathroom check schedule, clean the cars daily, etc. If I see things change, I will...
