My 5 year old almost drowned! My daughter started the basic level at the Little Star Swim School and was moved to the intermediate level two weeks ago. She had a good first session and then hurricane warning was issued. The classes were cancelled. The schedule was received via email for making up for the canceled classes. It was Friday Oct 7, 2022 when I brought my child for the class at 4: 45 pm. The regular coaches for the immediate class did not show up. Coach Laura, the basic level coach, started teaching the lesson to about 10 kids at one time. No one can manage 10 kids at once. My daughter , who had just moved to the intermediate level, was asked to do the free style full lap without being trained for it. Coach Laura went on the other edge of the pool. I saw my daughter struggling in and out and crying. I thought that she was trying to breathe , but I could not realize for a few seconds that she was drowning. Nobody noticed. There was no life guard. When my 5 year old daughter realized that she could not go further , she started swimming back. That's when I saw her sinking in and I ran and screamed for help. She was pulled out and then people got together. Many parents had witnessed the incident. My daughter was pulled out and I was upset, the owner came to me and wanted me to calm down, but they had no empathy to stop the lessons. Coach Laura kept on delivering the lessons to other kids as if my child drowned it would not have made any difference. Coach Laura was my daughter's basic level teacher and she was very well aware that my child was not ready for one full lap, but she did not look behind . I have not been able to sleep for last five days because I saw my daughter drowning and I felt and still feel like I am...
Read moreI have three children- 8 & 10 year old of on the Piranha swim team and a 3-year old who just started in the Little Star Swim School. What a fantastic group of people- and having two large pools make the aquatic center feel very spacious. All staff members are very attentive and caring for all the children. My 3 year old loves to come to the swim practices. She is learning to be in a team environment with other little swimmers and learning the ins and outs of kicking and some of the strokes. I wish the classes were longer than 30minutes because she has so much fun and doesn’t want to come out of the pool at the end of each class. My boys love being a part of the Piranhas swim team. The coaches are exceptional and very knowledgeable- when they see a swimmer is ready to be challenged more, they don’t hesitate to move them up to the next level. We have been part of this team a little less than year now and my kids’ swimming skills have developed tremendously. We have attended many swim meets and all the coaches have always been very supportive. Overall, both Little Star Swim school and piranha swim team have extraordinary staff- they are like family to us. Thank you for letting my children be a part of this great team....
Read moreSigned my kids up for the swimming classes. Don't do it, Instructors are horrible at communicating with the children AND parents. Never again unless we go for the public swimming. First day we asked where our class was and no one knew anything, instead of taking role and introducing themselves. Also, they don't teach, they tell the kids what to do and they have to do it first go around or they'll continuously yell at them saying how they're not doing it right or they will force their arms or legs the "right" way. How horrible for a child that is learning how to swim at 4 years old to literally cry non stop while the teacher yells at him to be quiet and listen just because he's scared? The audacity. Meanwhile everyone watches as if this is normal, NO THANK YOU. THAT'S NO WAY TO LEARN. Will never force my child through it again, rather pay someone with...
