I have seen hundreds of concerts in many different venues. This by far was my worst experience. To say the bathroom situation is awful is a severe understatement. The line is horrendous and there is only one. The food is not good and sparse. I paid $14 for a margarita....reallly??? And those were the positive parts. The staff is RUDE RUDE RUDE. I mean almost physically accosting. I paid $550 for 2nd row seats to Sammy Hagar and you would think I was a bum off the street trying to sneak in. Literally it was between acts and I was WALKING to my seat and 'securty' (usher) walked up to me put his hand on my back and told me to 'please go to my seat'. What? I was confused and continued on going to my seat. I saw them do this to many people. Sammy is known to interact w his fans in the crowd--he asks you to come up to the stage...which here is back about ten feet, separated by an aluminum barrier and then back another ten feet so no chance of even getting close. The few times he tried to reach out and motion for some contact (shake hands, sign a shirt, etc) 'securty' rushed up and shoved the person back forcefully. Even the picks the band threw didn't get past the barrier. Then at after the show was over I saw a pick on the ground so I stepped forward to reach for it...an usher throws her arms out me and physically pushed me back. I explained what I was doing and she yelled 'do you want to go to jail???!!'. Are you kidding me? The people next to us told us 'this is the way it always is'. Meanwhile there are shirtless people standing all around smoking. What??!! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS. Read moreI'm here for the UB40 concert featuring Maxi Priest and The English Beat.
Being my first time, finding the amphitheatre wasn't easy. Luckily I found a park staff that pointed me in the right direction. Arriving 30 early, I was able to find a decent park which was a few steps away from the amphitheatre. Security check went smoothly. There was a small group of vendors selling artist merchandise, various quick bites, and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages.
The amphitheatre was large with plenty of seats; exposed to the outside, which was shielded by a metal covering and big fans. I found my section and seat easily and waited for the show to begin.
The show started promptly at 7pm with British Reggae vocalist, Maxi Priest, singing his hits: Close to You, Wild World, and a few more. Next was The English Beat. I never heard of this band, but they played some nice songs. Finally UB40 came on stage. Over two hours of hits such as Kingston Town, Bring Me Your Cup, Cherry Oh Baby, Red Red Wine, and many more. The band is celebrating 45 years and sang a couple of songs from their new album.
The whole concert was a good vibe. Everyone was dancing and singing. I enjoyed myself so much that I didn't want it to end. There are much more artists performing at the amphitheatre, but none that I know of so I'm not sure when I would be returning. I'll be on...
Read moreMost awkward concert experience ever. Not really the amphitheater's fault though. This was my first show at the Amp, and I'm still disappointed with the experience. I've never been to a show with so many ignorant disrespectful people in the audience. People were walking around the ENTIRE time. Staff was constantly walking up and down the aisle with their flashlights yelling at people to sit down. Some people picked arguments with the staff, which generated more yelling. Very distracting. I thought maybe they weren't really into the opening act, but it never stopped. Even a vendor started walking down the aisle in the middle of the headline yelling "Ice cold beer!" Security told him to go back out, and even he started arguing with them. More distraction. There were groups of people just standing around in the aisles drinking and taking selfies. All I could hear and see half the time was crowds in the aisle with security yelling at them. I'm not sure if that's just the type of people this amphitheater attracts, but it was not a classy respectful crowd. It didn't feel like a $70 concert, it felt like a $12 baseball game. Apart from that the staff was great though, and the amphitheater was simple and convenient. At least they were trying to sit people down. I wish it had...
