I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Pascal and Cathy and I feel compelled to share my frustration. My visit to the bakery was just 30 minutes before closing time, and what transpired left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome.
Upon placing our order, the staff member informed us that the bakery would be closing in 30 minutes, as if to imply that we were not allowed to sit and enjoy our meal. This attitude was completely ridiculous and unacceptable. As paying customers, we should have been treated with respect and given the opportunity to dine without feeling rushed or unwelcome.
What makes matters worse is that this is not the first time I have encountered such behavior at this bakery. On a previous occasion, an older lady displayed the same dismissive attitude and actually asked us to leave as soon as she closed the doors. It is truly shameful that I made the mistake of returning to this establishment, only to be met with the same nasty treatment.
I am deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy displayed by the staff at Pascal & Cathy Bakery. It is disheartening to see a business that I once enjoyed tarnish its reputation with such poor customer service. As a customer, I deserve to be treated with respect and given the opportunity to enjoy my meal without feeling rushed or unwelcome.
I sincerely hope that the management of this bakery takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to their customer service standards. It is crucial for businesses to prioritize customer satisfaction and provide a positive experience, regardless of the time.
In conclusion, my recent experience at this bakery was extremely disappointing and left me feeling disrespected. I regret ever returning to this establishment and I strongly advise others to reconsider dining there.
Reply to owner: Dear Owner of Pascal and Cathy,
I understand that everyone has their own personal circumstances and preferences, but it is unacceptable for an employee to display such a lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service. I was shocked when, just 30 minutes before closing time, I was asked to leave the restaurant. This not only made me feel unwelcome, but it also left a lasting negative impression of your establishment.
Furthermore, I find it disheartening that you would use the excuse of caring about your employees' well-being as a justification for such behavior. While it is important to prioritize work-life balance, it should not come at the expense of customer satisfaction. If an employee is not willing to work during regular business hours, it would be more appropriate to find a replacement who is committed to providing excellent service and treating customers with respect.
I must express my disappointment with the overall level of customer service I received during my visit. It is disheartening to see a business that claims to value its customers fail to meet even the most basic expectations. As a result of this experience, I regret to inform you that I will not be returning to Pascal and Cathy in the future. Furthermore, I will be sharing my negative experience with others in the hope that they do not have to endure the same treatment as I saw many reviews in here complaining of such behavior from your employees, and your excuse was the language, or miscommunication, it is very clear that maybe the owner and employee are all the same,...
Read moreMy husband and I are both from Lyon, France We were horrified after eating these cement-like pastries. Everything they sell is unauthentic garbage. Croissants are supposed to be light and airy. Theirs are like a brick of cement ! Nothing is good at all about this "pseudo- french bakery" The only thing french about this dump are the owners who are scamming unsuspecting Americans who are most likely clueless about how French pastries should be made and how they should taste The people running this place will nickel and dime you to death even after spending a fortune on their poor, low quality garbage. They are cheap, stingy scam artists They actually had the nerve to charge us for a small pat of butter, which they claim is imported top quality french butter, which in fact no french person alive would ever consume that butter in France Their tuna is the worst we have ever tasted, absolutely disgusting and inedible “Heather” is verbally abusive to the customers. She is a hideous looking harridan who seems miserable being there. She is an ignorant, angry and confrontational person and has created a very hostile environment Lisa also a mean and weathered looking, washed up harridan is miserable and hates being there as well. Both of these women are déclassé, unkind, nasty and rude Everything is overpriced garbage in this place and all their subpar, low quality food caused us nausea & diarrhea . We were nauseous and sick for a week straight. Their lemon tarts and all their pastries are disgustingly sweet and everything is made with cheap artificial ingredients The owners hide in the back and are never to be seen. They know nothing at all about customer service in this country and it’s clearly evident they haven’t at all assimilated to proper American culture where the customer always comes first There is a really bad vibe in this place due to the fact that nobody enjoys working there and the owners are certainly ripping people off royally . They are selling substandard garbage under the guise of “french style pastries” to clueless Americans who actually believe this is what french pastries should taste like Do not believe any good reviews about this dump They are all lies. Pascal actually asks people to write favorable reviews for him Nothing here is suitable for human consumption . Pascal and Cathy should be ashamed to even call this a french bakery
Tout ce qu'ils vendent est dégoûtant et bien trop cher . (Everything they sell is disgusting and way overpriced)
Évitez cet endroit à tout prix (Avoid this place...
Read moreUpdate to the update: After eating trying an almond croissant once more my husband who has celiac disease has been experiencing some gastro effects. While in France he usually can eat products containing wheat as the gluten process differs there. As to whether or not his side effects are from the wheat or not he will determine in a couple of weeks to try another product to see if the cause was the wheat in product or some other cause. Hopefully- it is from another cause.
Update: I am increasing My rating to 5 stars. The last few times I have visited I have really enjoyed my mini pastries. I found the sweetness levels more mellow. Most importantly - my husband has celiac disease. He noted when he was in France he was able to enjoy all wheat based products with no issue. Since Pascal and Cathys uses flour from France he decided to give it a try. He was so thrilled to have no incident eating sour dough bread as well as an almond croissant. For him to have this option available to him means he gets to enjoy food the gluten process here does not afford.
Bravo!!!
PS: I now will in fact go out of our way to enjoy their product. :)
I came with high expectations based on reviews. As a person familiar with French pastries I would not say my palate met with what I had anticipated. At best- this is a descent place to get a sweet fix and therefore the 3 stars. I would say it is more Americanized in both sweetness levels and portion sizes. I was less disappointed with the viennoiserie products and would recommend these (although supersized) over the pastries which were to me much too sweet for me to appreciate any flavor other then sugar. Will I return? Yes… for some mini viennoiserie. Will I go out of my way to return. No. Tried trice— my impressions did not change. (I was excited to see they made canelé … it was unremarkable.) Please note: I come from a standpoint having several French pastry chefs in my life, exposed to French culture via family and travel and having work in the finer French pastry industry for decades. I am...
