• Do not take your boat here! Still fighting wiring and grounding issues. • No wires were secured properly, power wire left hanging rubbing on bolt introducing possible fire hazard. System sounds like it’s going to explode every time powered up and was never tuned. • Left me with 7 days of rerouting/ securing and troubleshooting why I had no bow lights after the installation. • Amps were not secured and horribly placed causing one to fail after a couple weeks. Still troubleshooting grounding issues. • Speakers falling out of because every hole in the fiberglass was stripped.
Dave kept calm and somewhat professional throughout the extended ordeal but would of felt better taking my boat to a ten year old with no experience.
I wanted to pay them for there knowledge/ experience and proper advice for what to purchase and install in my boat. Decided since they seemed helpful and pointed me in the “right” direction I would just pay them to install it, was a horrible decision. Wires were hanging everywhere, boat was full of fiberglass, routing was so bad and not secured it posed as a fire hazard, nothing worked as it should and they passed it off as “the radio plays sounds, here you go, good luck”.
After spending 3 days securing everything properly and fixing/ tuning as much as I could I took it back in because it still sounded horrible and found many more issues. The receiver they advised me to get did not support the speakers I had so they wanted me to buy another. I expressed that was why I took it to them in the first place, so I was happy they offered to install the correct receiver at there cost. Still had to tune everything myself and deal with tracing grounding and no bow light issues. With the speakers not installed in the places we agreed upon no one can sit upfront comfortably without speaker grills digging into there sides and the amps only having two stripped out screws in them and never installing the waterproof cover screws I fried a brand new 600-dollar amp a week later. They gave me an old amp to use but I could write a book on a million other things that were completely unacceptable.
Take your boat anywhere but here. I give Dave a little credit for remaining somewhat professional, but he never cared enough to make sure anything was done right and acted like I was just being difficult for not accepting these shortcomings. Even after charging me more than the original quote.
I understand it might be tough to find people to do decent work but there has to be some type of...
Read moreUPDATE Installation day went smooth. Everything came out great! So far so good. Completely met our customer service expectations. With a lot of audio shops that also sell remote start/alarm systems it can be tricky to tell who can install them well with a level of confidence (reviews are mostly car stereos).
My Fiancee' and I spoke with Dave, very friendly, knowledgeable, and respectable. We are going to be getting some Compustar installations done. Will update how everything goes after the installs, looking forward to it.
Highly recommend this shop based on the interactions we've had so far. Pricing seems fair, especially with the level of wiring expertise these individuals have. There were no hidden fees, very straight forward on pricing. With a system that integrates and interacts with your vehicle you need to be able to trust the shop. I would have loved to tackle this install on my own (I'm very detail oriented on modifications done to my vehicles), but with certain systems you require pro installers to keep any kind of warranty intact, let alone have access to some of the hardware/software required.
Once I mentioned manual transmission to other shops they immediately shutdown the conversation without even hearing out what I was looking for...some were also PRO installers (based on the Compustar website).
I definitely understand that some manual transmission vehicles can be hard to deal with, but at least hear me out yeah? Dave listened to my jabbering and was not only able to recommend what I was looking for, but was also understanding of the needs I was concerned with. He went over each system and key needs we were looking to obtain.
After the initial purchase I decided to just max out my options, I called the next day to schedule the installations and asked if it would be any problem to upgrade some more options and pay the difference. Dave had no problems with that at all and we got everything scheduled up. A long term customer has been gained, and a reputable shop has been added to my list of recommendations to friends and family. Can't wait for...
Read moreI went in to purchase a CarPlay radio for my old car that I gave my son for Christmas. I paid for the radio and installation. The front end manager (Dave) asked if I wanted to keep the steering wheel controls. I told him I wanted to keep everything. I knew there was going to be trouble when he said the radio in the car did not come in the year that my car was. I assured him I knew the year and model of my car. Two hours into the install, I was told that the backup camera would not work with the radio I purchased. I had to pay an additional $258 for it to work. When the installation was almost complete, we were told that the surround was not going to fit and they had to order another one. We went a month with the surround not installed. They did not notify us that it came in. I had to follow up more than once only to find that my son threw away some screws that were supposed to keep. The radio and surround eventually was finished. They stand by their work and I trust their warranty. It just was quite a bit more of a hassle than it should have been. If they are unsure of the radio and year/model according to their computer, I would think twice about using their services. What should have been a four hour in and out install, it took 33% more money once install began and 5 weeks...
