The place was filthy and smelled like a rotting carcass, and I have been to plenty of fish markets, Asian food stores and butchers in the past. They never smelled like this.
First off, it's not in the greatest part of town, which is not entirely their fault. I am new to the area and was looking for an Asian market that had my favorite Ponzu, noodles, any type of mochi, aloe, or nata De coco and they did not have 1 of those things. Not well stocked, and when you walk over to the butcher, you get a foul odor that doesn't smell like fresh meat or fish, but a dead body rotting away in the back. Read moreThis place is great. Lots of hard to find grocery and kitchen items. It can be gritty at times and be aware that they do butcher meat here and there is a small produce area with some exotic fruit/veggies... be prepared for the odd smell or two. :) Some people may be put off by that. Think of it as a Farmers market. This ain't Walmart or HEB.
There also a small kitchen that serves the best sandwiches, smoothies, and Vietnamese coffee. Yummy.
