Northgate Plaza — Local services in Portland

I stopped by Northgate plaza to pick up a few things at PetLife. This particular location doesn't have the same choices as their other stores. It's particularly frustrating that Petlife has cut way back on their food choices for cats. I'm pretty sure they plan to change their name to DogLife. There are thousands of choices for cat foods online so there's really no excuse for Petlife to not carry healthier and more options for cats. Most of the foods they carry contain starches (think pet obesity & diabetes), carrageenan (studies show it causes systemic inflammation), agar-agar (related to carrageenan), and worst of all tapioca, tapioca starch, crushed tapioca (this is known to basically cause cellular respiration to cease and exist thereby slowly suffocating cells.). This location also has a Shaws which is a nice and clean store and carries a good size selection of products. I don't shop there too often and so at the moment I cannot recall what other stores are at...

Pretty solid shopping plaza. It's right down the road from my apartment so it's super convenient. It's nice that there's a UPS store (which also accepts USPS packages so long as they're pre-stamped and all). There's a CVS, which I usually prefer over Shaw's as I have had some bad experiences there. The little bookstore is lovely and the family that runs it is so sweet, I highly suggest going there. The Hallmark is large for such a small plaza and has a lot of good useful stuff. Wish they'd replace the now gutted empty hull that used to be Little Caesars with another fast food place though. Nice local strip Mall with a variety of stores... I go to Shaw's, CVS, the pet store etc. The buses back to downtown only run on the hour, but when the number three bus starts running in the fall, there will be buses available on a half hour schedule... very convenient.
