We avoid shopping here if possible. Produce is sorely lacking, meaning sparse, sad, and too often wilted and bruised. Prices for a small, low income town, are outrageous. How dare they rip off their own community! Adding to the insulting prices, I rarely find everything I need. Other than the co-op and Dollar General there is no other choice, so if you need to buy groceries in Portola, you're screwed. But...their checkers are generally wonderful, friendly, and helpful.
