Leonard's — Local services in Portola

We avoid shopping here if possible. Produce is sorely lacking, meaning sparse, sad, and too often wilted and bruised. Prices for a small, low income town, are outrageous. How dare they rip off their own community! Adding to the insulting prices, I rarely find everything I need. Other than the co-op and Dollar General there is no other choice, so if you need to buy groceries in Portola, you're screwed. But...their checkers are generally wonderful, friendly, and helpful. For that, two stars...

Exspensive, $$$$$ and it's the only store for miles and miles (other than the Dollar Store which is not a grocery store!!) and don't stock up enough essential products especially on the holidays, there produce is fresh but very limited (please consider expanding your store especially since you are the only store available unless you drive to Reno, Truckee or Quincy which is quite a drive when the weather is not good) although, i do appreciate that the hours have been extended to 10pm...

Very expensive groceries for a low income town. Don't expect to get what you came for, make sure to have a backup plan. Coolers are not cold enough, milk/half&half goes sour before expiration date. Chicken and steaks poorly packaged by Butchers leak raw juices all over hands. This means those juices are on the carts and get mixed up with veggies and anything...
