I am an employee for Food Lion and I can say we do our best. We don't carry some of the things at this location my family bought here just a couple years ago and that is unfortunate, and the lines do tend to get long because of the lack of open registers but I want to clear something up about that.
It's not a matter of hiring more people. We have a dozen or more cashiers that work at this store but the corporate office determines how many labor hours we have each week, we cannot go over that. We have to schedule accordingly and our managers try to do the best they can to schedule employees when high traffic is expected. Unfortunately we also have to deal with call outs and if no one else wants to cover the shift, we're screwed.
Also be advised that just because someone is on the front end or behind the counter does not mean they can wait on you at a register. QA / Janitorial associates, stock associates, some dept heads, etc are not trained or authorized to work a register. In the event that they are, they cannot open a register without approval from whoever is supervising the front end. If someone says they are unable to assist you because they have too much to do, they are not being rude. Odds are you have met a manager or supervisor and they are actually doing their job or other work at one of the front end computers which cannot be left unattended while logged on.
We do our best but remember we are humans just like you and while you are off the clock, we are not. There might be a few bad apples but most of us just want to make your day and make it through ours, so please exercise a little patience and remember if you have a problem with something like there not being enough lines open, take it to our corporate office so they give us more hours to bring in more...

We went last night 4/23 after being on an all day road trip and they had both bathrooms closed and wouldnāt allow us to use them even just to change our wet toddler. You can sometimes find good produce but more often than not itās really poor quality and already going bad before you get it home. It was late so we didnāt have time to go anywhere else but I will continue to take my business down the road to Kroger for big grocery trips. You can get good deals occasionally but the prices on meat and produce are consistently higher for a lower quality at food lion.
The one pro? After a rude a dismissive employee by the bathrooms irritated me more than the rotten strawberries ever could have the lovely woman at checkout completely lightened my mood. I understand not wanting to deal with upset customers but I'm pregnant, had a really long day, and just wanted some milk and fruit for my son. I wish I had gotten this woman's name because she was great; she could clearly see I was frustrated and was so helpful and friendly. Some people are built for customer service and she is one of them from a warm greeting a entry and exit, directing self checkout with a smile, and helping me get more bags it was a reminder it just takes one small thing to greatly improve the...

The store is always very clean and sanitary. I always try and use this food lion if possible. the only complaint that one could make as a regular of this store is that the stock isn't rotated as well as it could be and lately My wife and I have bought quite a few items that were expired or very close to expiration, but at the same time they never give us any flack or problems when we try to return the said items for...
