I was looking for a cake the day of for a special Birthday Surprise. I am very good for forgetting to put an order in somewhere as I'm always busy and on the go. I wanted something a bit more special than a grocery store bought cake that always tends to be the same old same old. I know a lot of locally owned bakeries just don't have cakes readily available the day of. I called this place and to my surprise they had a few readily available. I've never had their cakes before and was willing to try as the owner is a self baker and locally owned. She told me over the phone that there were 3 flavors. Vanilla, Chocolate and Almond Lemon. I opted for the almond lemon because not only did it sound delicious and different, but I know my MIL would love that flavor. I told her I can pick it up within 30 minutes and she said she just had to decorate it. I asked for pink and or purple flowers. I put faith in that she would do a good job. It took about 30 minutes, then she called me back to tell me it was ready. I was a bit nervous to see it, but I know if she owns the bakery, she knows what she is doing. When I got there, to my surprise, it was BEAUTIFUL! When it was time to serve the cake, the flavors were amazing. The icing was an almond flavor butter cream with a light lemon almond flavor cake. I just want to let you know how wonderful you were to be able to make this cake happen and how amazing the cake turned out both in looks and flavor. I definitely do not recommend this business. We entrusted my sisters wedding day cake to them and it was a complete disaster. They gave us the cake in a triangular box which damaged the sides of the cake. The day of the wedding the cake had started sliding and was shaking like jelly before we even were able to transport it to the wedding. It was crooked and looked a mess. The strawberry and vanilla tasted like lemon. When we explained this to the lady who baked it she said that she could not assume responsibility because we did not call the business after hours. I explained that we did not know the business was still open and she she said we still should've called. I also explained that we only discovered that the sides were damaged the night before but found the cake sliding the next morning and called immediately but she still said that we should've known that they were still there after hours. She said it was due to how we transported the cake but clearly the cake had not been moved when we noticed it starting to fall. The cake had cracks in it indicating that the reason it was falling was due to the large cracks in it. I will never return. I suggest that you not entrust your special memories to these people. I ordered a custom cake for an event. The receptionist took my order at the service counter while serving other guests purchasing cupcakes. I wish I could have sat down with a representative for about 10 minutes to go over options, maybe try a small sample to see what was their best cake flavor, and we could get a full understanding of options and services before making last minute tweaks. Overall the cake's appearance was 9.9 out of 10 as they made it exactly how I sent them over e-mail. The taste and texture were not good. The cake felt heavy and dense very similar to a thick cornbread texture. The flavor was not bad with the cream cheese frosting. Most of our guests didn't finish their initial pieces and nobody took pieces home. Actions spoke louder than words. I try to make a point to support a local business that share the same culture and ideas as my family. This was my first time there and ordering a custom cake.
