I was told last February 2022 that I have to have emergency eye surgery. I sat at the main hospital emergency room on 39th from 10:30 AM to 5 PM. Dr. Champion did my first eye surgery for a detached retina. She neglected to tell me, however, that I needed to lay face down for 3 weeks. Only to be getting up to eat or shower. I didn't have anyone to look after me for 6 hours after the anesthesia. So the staff kept me at the main hospital overnight. Even then, I wasn't laid face down. I woke up lying on my right side. A week later, I had to get a second detached retina surgery, and then a week and a half after that, a third detached retina surgery done by Dr. Ajlan.
Afterwards, I had to get a laser blasted into my eye 3 times. The first time, despite the efforts to anesthetize my eye, it still felt like bugs crawling on the inside of my eye whenever the laser was blasted into it. It was hard for me to sit still. So the next time, the doctor injected the anesthesia directly into my eye. You know how, as children, we will say if you ever broke a promise, we had to stick a needle in our eye? I don't recommend that from personal experience.
And this was all within the last year.
However, despite all of that, I believe the best doctors in the state worked on my I wouldn't change going to another clinic to have the deed done again. I'm very thankful for everything they've...

I recently had cataract surgery at KU Eye Center with Dr Stephen Ambrose MD, and I’m beyond grateful for the exceptional care I received. From the very first visit, the entire team made me feel at ease by thoroughly explaining the process and my options for lens implants. Their expertise and patient-centered approach reassured me I was in the best hands.
The surgery itself was smooth and far easier than I expected. I appreciated how the staff guided me through every step, keeping me comfortable and informed. The procedure was quick, painless, and stress-free.
The results have been incredible! My vision is now sharper and clearer than it’s been in years, and I no longer need glasses for most activities. The improvement has made a noticeable difference in my daily life.
I’m also impressed by the excellent follow-up care—Dr Ambrose and team were attentive, thorough, and available to answer any questions during my recovery. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
If you’re considering cataract surgery or lens implants, I wholeheartedly recommend KU Eye Center. The quality of care and the results are truly...
Read moreI made an appt for my 4 yr old specifically to test for color blindness. I was aware that numbers are often involved with testing for this and I informed them that he does not yet recognize all his numbers. I asked at the beginning of the appt if we would still be able to get results even though this was the case and was told “Yes, absolutely.” 2 hours later after every conceivable and superfluous test I was finally told “The only way we can really test for color blindness involves numbers so we will need to wait a year or so until he knows them.” When I indicated to the doctor that I had informed the woman administering the tests in the beginning that he didn’t know his numbers all I got was “Sorry.” This was without doubt the most unpleasant doctor’s appt any of my children have had. A loud and obnoxious woman sitting next to my 4 year old in the waiting area was dropping “f bombs” during a phone call. After 3 of them I had to ask if she could watch her language around children. No acknowledgement. I will never return...
