In an era that champions inclusivity and diversity, it is disheartening to encounter instances of blatant discrimination, particularly in settings where professionalism and respect should be paramount. The incident involving the employee of Paul Davis Restoration and the derogatory remarks made about my husband’s sexuality is a stark reminder that prejudice can lurk even in the most unexpected places. This review seeks to articulate the profound impact of such interactions, the necessity of accountability in corporate environments, and the imperative for companies to foster a culture of respect and understanding. The Incident: On an ordinary day, while I was diligently engaged in my work, I received a phone call that would shatter my perception of professionalism within the service industry. My husband, visibly shaken, relayed an appalling account of his interaction with a worker from Paul Davis Restoration. The employee’s words were not merely inappropriate; they were a direct assault on our dignity as a couple. His refusal to assist us due to our sexual orientation, articulated in crude terms, was not only unprofessional but also indicative of a culture that allows such attitudes to persist with this company! The language used by the employee—referring to my husband and me as “two gay QUEERS”—was not only derogatory but also an extremely painful reminder of the societal prejudices that continue to permeate our lives. Such comments, made in front of others, not only humiliated my husband but also created an environment of hostility and disrespect. The employee’s actions were not just a reflection of personal bias; they also raised questions about the values upheld by Paul Davis Restoration as a company. A Call for Accountability In the wake of this incident, it is crucial to address the question of accountability. Companies must recognize that the actions of their employees reflect on their brand and ethos. A failure to address discriminatory behavior not only perpetuates a toxic work environment but also alienates customers who expect a certain standard of conduct. Thus, it is imperative for Paul Davis Restoration to take immediate and decisive action to rectify this situation. First and foremost, an acknowledgment of the incident is essential…let me repeat that so maybe someone at Paul Davis understands…. an acknowledgment of the incident is essential! This acknowledgment should come not only from the employee involved but also from the management team. An apology, while necessary, is insufficient on its own. It must be accompanied by a commitment to change—an assurance that such behavior will not be tolerated and that measures will be put in place to prevent future occurrence and I haven’t heard anything regarding the behavior from the individual as tolerated and what the company is going to do to move forward to not embarrass others that are not “like them!” The Personal Impact While the focus of this detailed analysis is on corporate accountability, it is essential to recognize the personal toll such incidents can take on individuals and families. The emotional distress caused by discriminatory remarks can have lasting effects on mental health and well-being. My husband, an extremely kind-hearted and compassionate individual, found himself in a position where he had to confront prejudice in a place where he should have felt safe and respected-in our own home! The fear of potential repercussions, especially considering that the employee knows our address, adds another layer of anxiety to an already distressing situation. While I am not a violent person, the instinct to protect my family in the face of such hostility is a natural response. It is imperative that companies understand the ramifications of their employees’ actions and the fear they can instill in those who are subjected to...
Read moreI wish we had been able to use Alicia and Christy because Jessica provided horrible service to us. During the end of our disastrous experience with Paul Davis of Baton Rouge, she wouldn’t even answer our calls to talk about the situation. We have missing items, damaged items and unfinished work. The people they employed, in my personal opinion were not qualified for the job and due to translation issues were unable to reinstall our bed frame and laughed when I tried to explain how to them. We originally had ServPro here but our insurance company pulled them out and put PDR in to take of our home. We filed multiple complaints to our insurance company that were ignored and there was no communication available to deal with this. At least the owner Gary called us after we gave up and called the after hours support line. In a very professional manner he said Jessica would call us and then said she had personal issues and wouldn’t return our call. After a week and half of considering our concerns and complaints, he very professionally informed us that we signed a Hold Harmless agreement and they are not responsible for anything. He pointed out that since other contractors were present that PDR can’t be responsible and the contractors might have done it. Those contractors are my personal subs for my contracting company and we have recorded everything on our security cameras. Needless to say we will be pursuing this in Civil court and address all stolen and damaged items at that time. I hope others have a better experience with them as this has been an utter nightmare for us. Edit: Yet you failed to acknowledge or address the damage done to our home by your employees and only focused on the contents moved out and into our home. Damage that your original person came in, looked at and said "yes that will probably get damaged but don't worry, we will take care of it". Too bad I didn't get his name. Your employees came in, ripped out of cabinets, broke our counter tops, tore our sheet rock and then tossed everything back into the middle of the rooms as is, saying they were done and don't reinstall cabinets yet your website says you do remodeling. And to address the mold issue, your employees "sprayed for mold" yet afterwards our home tested for active mold that also reached into our duct work due to improper mold remediation which i couldn't find anywhere that you are certified for mold remediation. And you were contracted to remove the tile and mortar by our insurance company, came in, tore out the tile, leaving the mortar and claiming the job was completed. Every time we turned around, other than the pack out and move in, you were contracted by our insurance company to do projects that your people turned around and said, "no we don't do that" and then did amateur, incomplete work. We documented all of this. As far as no photographic evidence, you must have failed to look at the attached photos...
Read moreThis was BY FAR the most horrendous company I could ever imagine!! They “replaced” my roof. Within 5 years shingles were flying off. I purposely surveyed my neighborhood for roof damages at other homes and found none. It was like a storm had targeted my house only. I contacted them and never got any response worth anything. Only deflections. I have had several repairs since then. Every technician points out shoddy work, such as failing to ventilate the roof and inadequate cementing of capstones. In addition, inferior materials were used. I was concerned almost immediately upon their starting the work as they showed NO regard for my yard and garden as old materials were discarded, NONE. Plus a trusty neighbor alerted me to their REUSING materials that had clearly been budgeted for REPLACEMENT. I am now having to replace the roof which is barely 7 years old. Of course, this hurts, as most realize, even with insurance replacement is very costly. There really needs to be negative symbols for these rating scales. I’d definitely give Paul Davis Roofing five poop piles instead of the one star I was obliged to give. Even working my way through the corporate office, I got only deflections or silence. COMPLETELY INADEQUATE COMPANY WITH...
