Nagel Hardware — Local services in Preston

I would like to tell you my experience with our home town local hardware store. On Saturday 2/14/15 I called them looking for pellets for our pellet stove, only to be told they had some but were only allowing a limit of 20 bags per customer. I said no problem, that would work for us. I asked since we are seniors if they could hold ours until Monday 2/16/15 so we could get someone to help us unload them. The man said he had no problem with doing that,but I would have to come in and prepay for them on Saturday, which I did. On Monday around lunch time my husband and nephew go up to Nagel's Hardware to pick up our pellets, only to be told they sold our pellets and were all out. The man at the counter returned our money, however he did not seem upset or concerned that he had done this to us. When I called the man on the phone after my husband and nephew returned home, he said "well I gave your husband back your money, like the money was the issue. You hear all the time....support your local business, shop local, support the little guy, etc., well what happen to customer service, and taking care of your clientele from these local stores? Doesn't that mean anything anymore? I have been a customer to this hardware store for over 20 years, and spent a lot of money with them over the years, and the way we were treated is not acceptable. If I wanted that kind of treatment I could have gone to a big box store! It's just poor business...

Recently moved to this town and I'm very happy that this store exist. They have everything I could need for around the house projects. I've gotten things to build shelves in my house from here to tools I can use at work and even filters for my air conditioning returns in my house. The employees are helpful and even if I have questions for things I might want to do they can always give me pricing. Really great store and great employees. This store will have a lot of things you could need and good prices as well. When doing projects at my house I want to get all the materials from Nagel Hardware because I believe in...
