We went for dinner. My wife had the fish and chips while I opted for the spaghetti and meatballs. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting a great Italian dish from Little Italy but what a surprise! The pasta was actually linguine with a rich, flavorful and not overly sweet homemade sauce, not to thick and not too thin. As Goldilocks says, just right. The coup de gras however were the meatballs. What flavor! Be sure to slice them so as to maximize the experience. Whether ingested alone or in combination with the pasta and sauce, you will not be disappointed. As to the fish and chips, my wife was quite satisfied and ate more than she normally does.
Our server Luke was perfect. My only problem was that I could not hear anything that he said. The acoustics are simply terrible which makes conversation next to impossible, either with waiter or your dining partner. The problem was a group of 8 at the adjacent table together with another table of 4 who seemed to know the larger party. We had a similar experience on one previous visit. I was unable to hear the specials as Luke described them, so I just decided to stick with the menu. I did discern that there were three specials. How much trouble would it be to write them down along with the cost?
One other criticism dates from our first visit last winter soon after they opened. It was so cold in the restaurant that we decided to return only after the weather warmed. Is the margin so thin that you can't heat the place?
Lastly, we were surprised but not shocked by the notice that the use of a credit card would add 3% to the bill. Many businesses have jumped on this bandwagon. Too bad, because it provides an incentive to go elsewhere! Again, are the margins so thin? Credit cards have been accepted at businesses forever without additional fees. So what has changed? How is any additional fee any different from any other cost of...
Read moreEnjoyed an absolutely wonderful dinner at the Roadhouse last night. We had made reservations and were fortunate enough to arrive just as several tables had cleared and were offered our choice of tables. Always a nice touch.
Atmosphere is warm, inviting and cozy. We found it comfortable for a romantic dinner, relaxed family meal or even just sharing a few beers with friends. Very casual and comfortable.
Our waitress Shawna was very inviting, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Being our first date night in years we asked for to take our time and she wonderfully spaced our courses out, made sure our glasses were full and even remembered without asking for the wine I had ordered to come with my entree.
Drinks they are currently offering a selection of wines, cocktails (including Orange Crush!!) and beers. Personally I had a local RAR Nanticoke Nectar with the appetizer and Cabernet Sauvignon with my steak.
For the appetizer we had the Chesapeake crab dip. This is always a go-to for us being Eastern Shore residents and often a gauge of how well the food is prepared in any “local” establishment. The crab dip was served in a ramekin along side some thin bread crisps. The dish was nicely sized lump crabmeat with a very thin layer of cheese that had been perfectly melted. Every bite was a wonderful full flavor or crab and not overbearing cheese or filler.
For entrees we had Chicken Breast Marsala with grilled asparagus and potatoes and Prime Filet Steak with potatoes and a side salad.
My steak was cooked beautifully, potatoes were whipped and tasted great. Side salad was fresh and well made. The Chicken Marsala was incredible and the sauce had a wonderful flavor.
Really enjoyed the meal and the experience. Hard to find a place that feels so comfortable with well prepared food. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting the area and we will be back in the near future to try more...
Read moreThe renovation of this place going from Katie Mae’s to Preston Roadhouse is unbelievable. Great job to those that brought this place to life with its true potential. Firstly… the service by Shawna (an old friend) was second to none. I rate my service staff on attention to detail, and if my drinks are kept full. She exceeded that expectation on both accounts. The Reuben was delicious!! The hand cut fries were just the right touch and amazing! My fiancé ordered the chicken Caesar salad. And though the dressing was a little off in flavor, she says the chicken was very tasty. Shawna offered to replace the salad with something else, but my fiancé was also full from sharing my fries and Reuben. We also had the crab dip, which was damn good!!!
The only criticism I can provide, (which is very very little)… I would like to see a little more portion of the crab dip, covered in slightly less cheese. Other than that, I will absolutely return for another...
