Terrible experience. My husband passed away in December. He had also been a previous part-time employee of the Sportsman's Corner. (just prior to the change in ownership) 5 days after he passed, my dryer went out. I thought I would take my business to them, so I went to look at dryers. My husband and I had been casually couch shopping for a few years, but couldn't find the "right one". I spotted it when I walked it. I found a couch that I know we would've agreed on. Of course, we were quickly greeted by a salesman. Anyhow....I explained that I had to wait for my husband's life insurance payment. The salesman suggested putting it on layaway. He went and talked to April (explaining who I was and what I wanted). They all offered their condolences. I put money down on the couch and they said to just come back in when I got everything figured out. I had been back into the store and was greeted by the same salesman. I explained that I was still waiting on the life insurance payment. He assured me there was no rush. A few weeks later, I was browsing online and found the same couch for hundred$ of dollars cheaper at a different local furniture store. I went to Bill's and was greeted by the same salesman. Who was always above and beyond, friendly and compassionate about the loss of my husband. (no complaints about him) The store was busy and he was the only salesman there. He had broken away briefly to come talk to me. I told him I had changed my mind about the couch that they had on layaway for me and wanted to put my down payment towards something else. I told him they could put the couch back on the floor. He assured me that there would be no problem doing that, but that he was helping some other customers. I waited approximately 20-30 min and told him I'd have come back another time. In the meanwhile, life got hectic. Me now being a widowed mother to our 2 young daughters, which I homeschool and our youngest (age 10) recently had to have heart surgery. I just hadn't had time to stop up there again, but wasn't worried about it, because they made me feel like there was no rush. I stoped back in the store and explained (again) that I'd like to put my down payment towards a different purchase. NOPE! The fine print on the paperwork stated that since they had not review another payment in time, that I forfeited my down payment and they get to keep my money! The fine print that I clearly had NOT clearly read, when I have them my money....while standing at the counter, IN TEARS as they offered their condolences and were asking me what had happened to my husband (their former employee). I was distracted and upset. But, now they get to keep my money and April just said that the salesman don't really know the details and policies...etc, so I should've spoken to someone else's when I told him that I no longer wanted the couch and would like to chose a different purchase. How would I know that? I guess.......don't take the salesman's word at face value and make sure you challenge whatever they tell you, because it may not be accurate information? So, Darrin.... "Mr. OWNER OF BILLS HOME FURNISHINGS"....keep my money. Policy-Shmolicy! You could've been more understanding and compassionate. You were still going to get my business AND my money!!! I just wanted a different item. TIP: A little compassion, goes a long way. Bill would've handled this situation differently. I will forever take my business elsewhere, as will the rest of our family members. Sincerely, Disappointed Local Widow of Two...
Read moreI am very disappointed with my experience and the customer service at Bill's. This year I purchased an $850 dishwasher from them. I specifically asked the salesman if they had anyone who could install the dishwasher. The salesman said they didn't and it wouldn't be too hard to just install it myself. The dishwasher, which I used daily after installation with no problems, started giving error codes 2 months after it I installed it. Even though I had been told they didn't have anyone that could install dishwashers, when I called Bill's about the problem they said they have someone they work with who could come out and look at it. The repairman said the dishwasher wasn't level and one of the back legs was on the power cord. He leveled the dishwasher and I had to cut a hole in my cabinet so he could pull the cord out without having to pull the dishwasher out from under the counter. A month later, the dishwasher started with the error codes again. My husband went to the store to see if we could return or replace the dishwasher. He was told that they only have a 30 day return policy! No one told us about this policy when we made our purchase, and I couldn't find anything on the receipt that explained their return policy. The repairman was also in the store and told the manager that the dishwasher wouldn't run correctly because it was too big for the space that we had it in. This was not what he told us when he came to our house, and was also a lie because the dishwasher is the same exact size as the one it replaced. They refused to refund or replace the dishwasher saying it was past the return policy date and it was our fault we bought the wrong size dishwasher. Needless to say I will not be purchasing anything else at Bill's again, and I definitely will not recommend their...
Read moreI'd love to leave a good review if I could, we bought a $1400 Serta mattress from Bill's, it turned into an absolute disaster. The icomfort series mattress was extremely uncomfortable after a while of trying to tough it out and break it in. This mattress is deteriorating, sagging, breaking our backs. This is more of a Serta problem than a Bill's problem but I'm leaving this review because Bill's has not helped us out very well in regards of making it right within the warranty period of this terrible mattress. Bill's being a reseller, I'd hope to receive some help being they've got more gun power than I do being an individual customer. Serta has been as useless as the US government offices, I wish Bill's...
