We came to Devil's Den Escape room to celebrate our sons 8th birthday over the weekend. All our son wanted was a night at an escape room with some friends and maybe dinner or dessert after. (Disclaimer: We have only done a few escape rooms at vacation spots out of our area so at first when he asked, we weren't even sure this was doable locally).
Thank goodness for GOOGLE! I googled our area and this was the first one to pop up. I went straight to the website/social media account to check it out, hoping it would give me enough information, pictures, etc., to make a decision on if we could swing it for an 8YO birthday activity.
The website was very well thought out and organized. Right away from that alone and the FAQ section, I had all the answers I needed and booked it right then. I want to note, that when I booked it, it did ask for everyone's name that would be in attendance. I was a bit worried to commit and pay for a full group of 8 thinking, what IF something happens and someone can't make it...what then. Well that happened! I called right away and Mike was so understanding. I felt so relieved that he was willing to give us money back if we were unsuccessful in filling the spots and that I had until the day of when we showed up to sort it all out. This part of the planning was seamless and they were so helpful.
We ended up having a small group of 8 people, 3 adults and 5 children, ages ranging from 5-8 YO. We weren't sure what to expect when we arrived but let me express excitedly and whole-heartedly that from the moment we got there, Mr. Mike was the best host. Even the waiver process was a breeze because of course I forgot to do it ahead of time! It was all mobile when we got there and very short and sweet!
Mr. Mike was comical and kept the kids attention through the rules and the background story of what we would need to achieve. The kids were so excited and very engaged the whole time. I agreed to no spoiler alerts but I will say this, the way the story unfolded and the whole set up surpassed any and all expectations we may have had in advance, considering the limited space of the building in general.
The whole experience was top notch!! In fact, us adults decided we are planning a couple's date night there next...no kids this time!
We take great pride in supporting our community and locally owned businesses and this place deserves the praise. Check it out...you won't regret it! And spread the word!
In closing, a final thanks to Mr. Mike and the whole Devil's Den Escape room team for their role in a milestone memory we will all cherish for a...
Read moreI've been to about a dozen escape rooms in my life. I really enjoyed this. I did the Tavern room. Most puzzles were intuitive and the clues were wisely given. All the triggers and mechanisms seemed to work. The cost is about average and the room was spacious enough for five people to solve the room. The two (both are somewhat personal) complaints I might have are that I don't like escape rooms that use a specific type of conductivity trigger (which is a personal preference), and that I felt the room was a little simple. I think it could use one or two more elements to make it closer to the hour mark. We had four people and finished in about 40 minutes, including the "bonus" puzzle. This might be because it was marked as an easier room. We really enjoyed the room and I highly recommend it. I look forward to trying out other rooms...
Read moreWe enjoyed our visit yesterday. My two daughters and I did the tavern. It was the perfect size and challenge for our size group. The room was well thought out with multiple types of locks providing an enjoyment across the board.
We really enjoyed the room scenario, and we knew exactly what needed to be accomplished before we started (some room's goals can be so confusing, not this one). We loved the idea of an alternate ending and were so happy when we had enough time left to complete it. The girls loved the ending and won't stop talking about it.
The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and you could tell they just enjoy the escape room life. Tons of great conversations... The master was witty and upbeat, always watching in the room, and at request would provide just enough nug to get you moving in the right...
