Alright here it goes...this review is for the gym and weights portion only.
My family has held a membership at Dakotah since the doors opened in 1994. That seems to be the last time the majority of equipment was updated. If you've been to other facilities of this scale it is an embarrassment for the club. The staff there sits behind the desk on their phones all day, or workout on the clock while the weights are disorganized and all over! There are patrons there with little to no experience attempting very dangerous and improper "exercises" while staff stands by and watches. For experienced lifters there is almost NO equipment of any use. They have only 2 designated squat racks and ZERO platforms. There are NO bumper weights you can imagine this makes quite a noise and draws unwanted attention and complaints. Take a peak at savage lifetime, comparable size, they have approx 10 racks and platforms designated for these types of lifts/activities on the main floor. When I asked a staff member about this they said we don't like when "you guys" lift like that! Furthermore they said, "this is a family club" and these type of lifts are discouraged, but for a small fee ($30 a month EXTRA) we will put you in this closet behind the basketball court with 3 platforms to keep you away from everyone else.....They call this "studio 5". What on earth makes that not family friendly? Is lifetime not family friendly? As a 22 year member I had hoped my opinion would matter, but apparently that is not the case.
Lastly the basketball court: EVERY SINGLE rim is bent not all are 10ft and there is not a single usable basketball in the bin they provide...(I checked this morning)

Read moreI usually go here to go swimming, so this is just for that portion. Anyways, lifeguards do nothing but sit and talk to eachother. Two specific lifeguards judge every move you make and point and laugh at you across the pool. I am a guest, and going to the pool when those lifeguards are there makes me feel unwanted. I pay money to swim, and it's not worth it. I went today, paid to get in (my boyfriend is a member, so he can get two people in for cheap) went down to the pool and was told that I couldn't swim in what I was wearing. May I remind you it was the same lifeguard that harasses me and my boyfriend everytime we go. I've been going here for over a year and a half, I'm a frequent guest. I swim in the same suit every time. Nobody ever said anything to me about it until today. It was the same guy who snickered and laughed with his friend. So employment really needs to step up. You're literally paying people to sit on their ass and make paying guests feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Another thing, the showers are seriously gross. I've never seen them get washed or scrubbed once. The floors are slimy, and going into the showers makes you feel dirtier...
Read moreWe were on a family plan at a military rate as I am a Combat Disabled Veteran and unable to work. My son hasn't attended the gym since leaving for the Army in June. My wife hasn't attended since early August and I have never been. When asked about a possible refund, as my family discussed terminating in August, but dropped the ball, they are still gonna bill us for October, November and December. That's perfect for the holidays, considering two months dues was taken a couple days ago. I thought for sure, after I initially asked about our last visit (August) and it being the Holidays, Miss Susan Schriever would connect the dots. I am wrong, she wont budge, refers to a contract like I'm in the Army still. You know things happen, I explained in detail how the wife and I thought each other cancelled to no avail.
Now, since today is Dec 2, apparently they need 30 days notice, which means I could be charged for...
