I am only writing a review mainly to critique one appetizer we received: the shrimp ceviche I received was one of, if not the worst, dishes I have ever been served in a restaurant. When I order ceviche, I expect to be served something resembling one of the many Google images that pop up when you search that term: large chunks of shrimp or other fish doused in acid served with other acidic vegetables. It should have the consistency of a chunky dip. Instead, I received a plate of chips with the "ceviche" in the middle: a pint glass filled with red salsa with two large dollups of guacamole in the middle and whole, overcooked unflavored shrimp at the bottom of the glass. The glass contained two long spoons which were meant to serve this monstrosity. I cannot fathom the logic of not only the creation of this dish which is not ceviche but then to serve it in this manner, expecting the diner to scoop out a pure liquid salsa onto a flat plate in an attempt to recover the shrimp at the bottom. To make matters worse, during this process, the guacamole mixes with the salsa to form a muddy brown liquid that is wholly unappetizing. And to make matters worse, the salsa-liquid is not flavored; no acid, no salt. It was utterly flavorless. I finally asked our kind server Chloe (who is the only reason this review isn't 1 or 2 stars) for a ramekin to pour the liquid into.
Other than that, the giant pretzel and buffalo cauliflower bites were very good. But they cannot overcome my disappointment with the ceviche.
Additionally, the hostess who sat us (not Chloe) was incompetent and could not communicate. It took another server/host to back her up who understood immediately what I was trying to communicated and was able to get me seated appropriately. I was in at around 8 pm on...
Read moreOur experience at the Meadows Bar and Grille at Mystic Lake was a complete disaster. We ordered three appetizers, and it took nearly a full hour for them to arrive. By the time the food finally hit our table, we had barely any time to eat before our concert started. The restaurant was severely understaffed, leading to this unacceptable delay.
The giant pretzel was acceptable, but the cheese dip portion was extremely small, and asking for more was impractical due to the limited staff. The chicken wings, while flavorful, were served in a noticeably small quantity. The nachos were disappointing; a large portion of dry chips with minimal toppings and cold chicken. Additionally, the 'drink of the month' tasted diluted.
Because of the extremely slow service, we were forced to rush our meal, barely managing a few bites before having to leave for our event. We spent nearly $60 on food that we had to eat quickly and leave unfinished. To add to our frustration, I contacted Mystic Lake through their website's contact form, and they only provided excuses rather than addressing the problems. If you're attending a show or want a timely meal, DO NOT come here. You'll be disappointed and likely miss part of your event. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.
Edit: As expected Mystic Lake response...
Read moreThis was probably the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. I went with a group of 9 for my birthday celebration. We waited probably 20 minutes before our waitress even came over to take our drink order. The punch cocktail many of us ordered was awful. Watered down and not even made right. When we got our food, I was the only one who did not receive their food and our waitress did not even realize that because after the kitchen staff brought our food out, she did not come back for about 20 minutes and we had to ask the host to check on our food. They obviously forgot to make my food or it was left in the kitchen. All the food was incredibly mediocre. We asked to talk to the manager who was apparently in a meeting at 8 pm? The manager never came out to talk to us. And to top it all off, they add an automatic gratuity of 18% for “large parties” and on one of our tickets it said we had a group of 14! I could not get out of this restaurant fast enough. A terrific 2 hours wasted on a night to celebrate...
