Mandara Spa — Local services in Río Grande

I should have read these reviews and asked for Gabriel. I had a women and did not like my experience. I booked a deep tissue massage and received something unusual that involved rubbing uncomfortably hot paraffin (contained in a plastic bag) on my body, dry brushing, and vigorous rubbing of my skin/body with no attention to my muscles or anatomy. I am giving 2 stars because the manager refunded me after I complained. The sauna was broken, the room smelled like sewer (the hotel is being renovated). I have been to another mandara spa at Disney in FL and their treatment protocol was different. And I have had a lot of wonderful massages in the US/PNW. Also a 20% tip is included, and the paraffin and foot massage I was offered at the beginning of my treatment...

It was just a phenomenal massage. I had a deep tissue, the masseuses’s mane is Marilis and she did simply amazing job.

I checked the reviews when I arrived in the resort…. and I was very skeptical; BUT as I have issues with my neck and shoulders and after the flight it got worse, I kind of didn’t have a choice; I needed a massage, otherwise I couldn’t sleep. I had a lot of tension in my shoulders, so I told Marilis about this right away. She went above and beyond to help me relax and get rid of it. After checking in we stopped by the spa to make an appointment. We were told we could go online or make an appointment right then with the receptionist. We were given a time of 9am Tuesday and to arrive 10 min early. We provided our name and room number. Upon arriving at the spa Tuesday, no one could locate our reservation. We were given an alternate time that did not work for us due to other plans. When that didn’t work there were no other options given. Lesson learned…make your appointment online because they don’t know what they are doing here. Edited to add, you cannot book a couples massage online, so be sure to ask for a confirmation number when you book over the phone...
