The place sounded pretty great from the reviews I have seen. The seating looked very luxurious and it was very calm and quiet, which I liked. They had a very nice pina colada and the peanut butter milkshake was amazing. The way they plated the food and the looks of it looked magnificent and delicious but the service was average. Waiter didn't really show much emotion whatsoever and there was a very limited menu and nothing there was even Puerto Rican related food. They had some pizza, salad, and some appetizers. the food was crazy expensive and tasted terrible. We ordered the deviled eggs which were only 2 eggs (4 halves) and those were very bitter and after just one bite, the others at my table did not want to finish it and almost threw up. I also ordered the chicken empanada which looked amazing as I said about all of the food, and even tasted amazing as the very first empanada I tried before, but the portions were incredibly small and came with 3 empanadas, each less than half the size of a banana (for reference). We also ordered these sea salt fries and they were almost completely soggy and the portion was incredibly small and this "sea salt" is just barely any basic salt, McDonald's fries taste much better than these and mind you, these were 14 DOLLARS! we also ordered this "Puerto Rico style fried chicken" and it didn't taste bad but this was about 24 dollars and KFC actually tastes better!! I am sorry for possibly wasting your time but if you made it down here thank you for considering my opinion. Conclusion: you should never go here, Portions are incredibly small, food tasted below-average and was extremely expensive. Would only recommend buying the peanut butter milkshake which was pretty big and very nice, and the pina colada. Would not recommend especially if you are a tourist. Try some actual local food If you are here for...

we returned. I was looking forward to a better experience; it was worse. We met some friends for Dinner before heading to the hotel for dancing

We ordered white wine. It was delivered warm id say 70 degrees. I ordered the snapper special, which was The highest priced item, It was over fried, and inadequate

Roots take advantage that the hotel caters to many conferences and conventions, and has many one time visitors. It seems that they do not rely on business otherwise the place will be empty.

If you’re from York Chicago or another big city, you’ll rate their pizza a 4 On a scale of 10 . Many people order wings and beer, which is hard to screw up. Their wings are often overcooked.

To show that this is not a one time thing below is my last review

Not consistent . Chicken was raw. No apology. If you’ve viewed my other restaurant reviews each review earned a 4-5 star rating - with a 4.9 average - says a lot. My wife has already finished her meal, and I’m still waiting for my cooked meal. Been here before- always average , ergo I didn’t post - the last two times have been worse. Message to owner- overall restaurants at rio mar are subpar - don’t strive to be best of the worst- instead make a difference. When the restaurant first opened years ago, it was very good- it’s been downhill ever since...

First off, this is a restaurant inside Wyndham Rio Grand and if you come here after dark, it’s pretty difficult to find. The restaurant is literally hidden inside the building and getting there from a self parking lot was a confusion 15 min walk through empty halls and convention center side. Also they don’t validate parking. So you would have to pay for parking.

We spent about 35mins trying to find our way in and getting a wrist band after checking in with the front desk for COVID vaccinations. I support them confirming our vaccination status’s but after finally reaching the restaurant front we were asked to show vaccination cards again. So not sure what the wrist bands earlier for.

After all this, if the food has been good, it could have made up for previous issues but the food was plain bad. The pizza was cut to uneven slices, toppings were skimpy and also uneven. There were 2 slices with just a single piece of topping and just tons of cheese. Service was pretty poor especially towards the end, we literally had to get up to find someone to take our card for the bill.

Please do yourself a favor and don’t bother...

We came here because Iguana restaurant was booked. My wife is vegetarian and the menu options sounded appealing. We were very pleasantly impressed with the ambience, service and food! So much so that we are planning to go there again. We got the Empanadas, Naan, Deviled eggs for apps and everything was delicious! The Raita with the Naan, while opposite of chunky, was flavorful and tasted pretty authentic Indian. For entrees, we ordered the veggie pizza and the chicken pasta with chicken on the side. Pizza was amazing. The spicy peppers made all the difference - I don’t like spicy food, but this had the right tanginess to it. For drinks, we ordered wine, the mango rum drink and the rum old fashioned. All drinks were very well made. Overall, the staff was great and attentive. The ambience was very pleasant. A must if you are staying here.

Customer service was fantastic! Had lunch there when we arrived and Edgar was awesome in recommending other local restaurants off the property! He was very helpful. We had breakfast here the next day and Victoria was a joy to connect with as our server. Kept good conversation going and recommended some of the best juice. She also recommended another restaurant which ended up being our favorite while we were here. The last day we had Axel as our server and he was on point from start to finish. Shoutout to Judy for the delicious omelets. The all you can eat breakfast was the way to go. Oh I forgot their coconut ice cream and taro root was on another level of flavor! The to go crew was as kind as can be! Keep smiling you all did great!!
