I have been a member for 5 months now and I have nothing but positive things to say about GTS. They really care about providing a great experience to their members. I checked out Equinox, Planet Fitness, 24 hour fitness, and have been a member at other local gyms. If your focus is getting your work in and learning proper form you won't find a better deal.
Overall: The best gym. Very good price given what you get. Their session cancellation and unused pass policy is very generous. All of the instructors are top notch and very nice people. No gym bros here. As a female, I really appreciate the friendly but focused atmosphere.
Master Classes: Excellent. They will teach you proper form to get the max strength out of you while preventing injury. If you have a past injury, they will show you tips to still be able to train (I had an injury from before I started going to this gym). So far, I have taken the Day 1 and Day 2 master classes. I have knee problems from before and I found it unbelievable that with their instruction I was able to do full proper squats.
Atmosphere/occupancy: Also excellent. I've never had to wait for any squat racks ever. There have been times when I'm the only one in the gym, especially early in the morning. They have a good mix of machines and I've always been able to make it work what they have. Everyone is very courteous. If there's any equipment that's malfunctioning I just have to send a text to the owners and they address it right away.
Other members: People are usually minding their own business, but everyone is polite and considerate. Most people will give you a wave or nod if you're working out during the open gym.
Owner/Coaches: Jason, the owner, is great. Again, my experience is that he is focused on providing the best experience for the members. He is a great coach and is very knowledgeable about form and the mechanics of strength training. I have interacted with two other coaches and have felt very comfortable and cared for during their instruction. As a female, this is something I...
Read moreI live in San Pedro and was looking for a small, private gym with all the right (and clean) equipment. I had a home gym, but since moving, I joined a larger gym...and no thanks. I don't want to catch COVID or anything else in these big box gyms.
I couldn't find anything up to standard nearby me, so I expanded my search area and landed on Game Time Strength in Redondo Beach. Yes, I commute that distance, but let me tell you, it is so worth it!
First, let’s talk about the space. It’s a well sized spot for a private, yet challenge-oriented fitness community. The equipment is new and clean. I know I can get a full body workout here.
Secondly, let’s talk about the staff. Everyone is awesome and knows their stuff. Jason is incredibly knowledgeable. He and his entire team are open, welcoming, friendly, and of course, knowledgable.
Third, let’s talk about culture. I just finished taking their 3 day bootcamp, which covers barbell fundamentals. Just taking this class alone sealed the deal for me even more. I have been lifting for over 10 years and I recommend this class to any and every person who lifts. Why? Because this team believes in quality over quantity. They also strive to ensure their athletes are healthy, which includes long term ability to lift. They make sure you know which muscles should be engaged in every kind of lift you do and fundamental mechanics that go into every movement. I feel confident in my ability to build myself from here, without the gym bro environment (lifting heavy but incorrectly).
If you want to find a spot that supports your goals, lets you build yourself without pressure, and fosters a community of athletes (new or seasoned) that support one another, I recommend you go to GTS. I look forward to being a complete, happy, and satisfied...
Read moreI am someone driving all the way from Santa Monica to come to this gym location if that tells you how unique and value-add the service provided is. There is not a similar option of this nature on the West-Side to my knowledge despite a plethora of great gyms.
I also already have an existing group class gym membership I religiously attend at 5 am and my own home cable-gym system I use very consistently. However, I was yearning for some proper training on the barbell and weight lifting fundamentals after years of doing my own thing. I was also wanting to ensure that when I do my group classes and personal training where there is weight lifting involved, that I would avoid injuries and continue to keep my back strong. (I have successfully avoided back surgery and eliminated all my pain in the last 2 years!)
The best impression was when I first reached out to GTS and started interacting with Jason, the owner. His in-take process was so easy and he is extremely welcoming and communicative. It was super easy to understand what the available options were and he has a very flexible calendar system you can pre-book your reservations with.
I decided to jump on the 3-day Barbell Master class and over a couple weeks completed all the fundamentals. It was fun to get a great education on all the essential barbell movements, body mechanics and also get a social hour with nice people and puppies! Its a great way to relieve stress and move after sitting all day at work!
I am now excited to add a couple days a week to my overall fitness routine after work where I can go with structure (my biggest motivator) & accessible coaching and good gym equipment to continue improving on my strength! I highly recommend checking out the three GTS locations and getting into a highly...
