over the weekend of the 4th our dogs luna (Boston terroir, potty trained, does not bite, reacts well with other dogs, about 3 years old) and our dog bella (Maltese shitzu, potty trained, does not bite, has a heart condition, about 9 years old) stayed at camp k9 for 4 days. this experience was the worst me and my family has had with any dog service we have had. at camp k9 they have services such as they have cameras in the play areas and yards where the dogs are able to roam and have play time with other dogs. when we dropped our pups off we saw them in one of these yards and they were in they for maybe 20 minutes after and i understand the short amount of time then seeing they needed to be settled in and find crate spots and other things other than this one time of dropping off our pets we did not see them on the cameras once my mother checked the cameras about every hour on the day of the 3rd and about every 30 minutes on the day of the 4th and did not see them once in the “play areas” in fact out of the whole time that our pets stayed there we saw 5 dogs in total all day in these areas and a couple of them we believe to be the owners/workers pets not seeing our pets on the cameras we were told they have about 40 boarded dogs and about 25 day care dogs and for us to only see the same 5 dogs in the play yard in a span of 4 days worried us and so my mom called to check in on them when she called we were told bella had been throwing up but they did not contact us themselves we were only informed after checking in being concerned about our pets my mom informed them that my sister would be picking them up the next morning when my sister arrived she was told that she needed to come back in 30 minutes because they needed to bathe them because they had poop on them keep in mind our dogs are crate trained and have not pooped or peed in their crates since they were puppies my sister then listened and came back and picked them up when she picked them up our bill was much more then what we were told we were charged a holiday fee that we were not told about per dog, we were charged for early pick up per dog, and also for the baths, if we were satisfied with our pets care we would have absolutely no problem paying these fees but this was not the case my mom then called camp k9 and spoke to an employee this employee proceeded to argue and claim that they called us to tell us bella was puking but they had not we had to call to check in after being concerned for our dogs care when we sent them to camp k9 we provided the staff with a printed out sheet of paper with food instructions, medication instructions, and other things we also provided wet and dry food and toys when picking up our pets we were given back none of the wet food and seeming to be a full bag of dry food this would mean they did not even look at the instructions that we provided when we came home our dogs both had diarrhea and luna has been reverse sneezing 10x a day maybe more (was not often for her to do before) both of our dogs have been anxious and get scared even when we leave the room and both have been pooping in the house when they have never done this before camp k9 i am not posting this review to complain or looking from anything from the business our family does not want any other pups to go through what ours have and do not want other family’s to be fooled by the pictures on their website and facebook (on the facebook the only pictures they could provide were them in their cages and a picture from when we had the visit to meet the dogs we know this because you can see my mother foot in the photo and also they had our home leashes on that they did not take when boarding) hopefully they get back to their normal...
Read moreWE LOVE CAMP K-9!!!!
HI thanks for reading my name is Caitlin and my family and I have three dogs who we are very protective of. Before we found Camp K-9 we had a hard time leaving our girls. We absolutely love Camp k-9 and cant imagine our lives without them!!! We are able to drop our puppy off on the days that we work late and we know she will not only be learning simple commands but that she is also well loved and played with, as well as socialized.
We have an older, smaller dog(Pomeranian/Maltese) who doesn't do well with bigger dogs. She has always hated the vet and boarding places.... until we found this place. She loves camp and all the amazing staff members. She tends to hang out with the staff rather than the other dogs. This makes me feel better knowing that they are caring for her and loving her just as much as I do. I feel comfortable going away knowing she is in great hands.
We also have a three year old lab/coonhound mix that has been attending camp since she was adopted. The staff are amazing with her!!! She can be a bit well crazy but they have helped us by socializing her and giving us great advice on how to help her calm down and settle in. She loves camp days. When ever we mention the staffs names as well as other regular campers she walks right to her leash and cant wait to leave.
On top of the awesome staff and amazing play areas they also have several webcams I can view through out the day whenever I feel the need to see my "kids" As someone who travels a lot this makes me feel less homesick knowing that I can see them when ever I get the urge.
Camp K-9 also has an amazing not for profit that I am proud and happy to help with. They offer an soldier who is deploying the opportunity to leave there dog with them free of charge during their deployment. I personally have not deployed but have had friends who have and they have all said they feel better knowing their four legged friends are well cared for. Camp K-9 not only boards them but feeds them and covers their medical expenses should they need anything.
CALL THEM YOU WONT BE...
Read moreWe just could not be more pleased with the quality of care our dogs (Terrier, Yellow Lab and Bearded Collie) have always received at Camp K-9 which is why we have continued to bring them there since they opened in 2005. (Camp K-9 is approximately 30-45 minutes from our house but definitely worth the distance to travel.)
The owner and all of her caregivers are very knowledgeable in canine care, extremely conscientious and have all of the dogs best interest at heart!! During the past eight years they have continued to make substantial upgrades to their facility which are second to none in the area. Their outside play area is huge and they are just completing the addition of a sun screen to protect the dogs while they are outside!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! They also offer training and grooming which makes it perfect for a "one-stop" shop for complete doggy care!! (Our Beardie has longer hair & high energy which makes her more challenging to groom. Camp K-9 is the only place where she is returned to us fluffy, clean and smelling great without having to use any sedatives!!!)
My kids love the webcams which let's us see our dogs when they are there especially for extended stays (have left them for two week periods) while we are away. During those periods we have felt very confident our dogs were receiving the best of care and totally trust in the caregivers to make the best decisions for our dogs during their stay.
As you can tell, we are BIG supporters of Camp K-9 and our dogs are too!!! This is the BEST doggie day care...
