El Cortez Mexican Restaurant C.C Hills — Restaurant in Bremen Township

First of all this establishment was dirty. as soon as we walked in the door it was very visible that this establishment had not been cleaned that day. We were not properly greeted and when the take out person asked were we dining in or taking out when I advised her that we were dining in her exact words with a point of a finger was "y'all over there".. Absolutely unacceptable!! Even though I did not appreciate how we were treated the first moments of being in this establishment when we went to the other side the way the checkout person pointed out upon going over there, chairs were on top of the table as if they were closing and the the tables that didn't have chairs on them were filthy. At this point my I dont know whether to clean up the mess myself or wait until someone else decides to get the place clean so we can be seated.. Absolutely the most terrible customer service experience I have encountered this year!! To the point after seeing how dirty this establishment was with little concern for the customers and the extremely terrible customer service skills that were shown before we even sat down at a dirty table we ultimately decided to leave! If I can give this establishment zero Stars I would... We will NEVER come back to El...

So let me start by saying i used to come here 20+ years ago regularly with my family (the bar area had a glass roof and they had a huge mural on the kitchen wall which is now gone). It was awesome back then! It's been a while since I've been here and i can say they have fallen off a bit. Not saying it's bad, but it's not the caliber they used to be. The steak in my burrito was just gray, no charred tidbits, our chips weren't hot and fresh like they used to be. The suizo burrito cheese wasn't the same either, it used to stretch and string(mine was lukewarm so might have been the issue). The bistec ala mexicana suizo was still very good though. Also side note they put lettuce and tomato in normal burritos now, i got mine with no lettuce and still ended up with a huge pile of tomatoes which kinda sucked. This location is still way better than mokena, and its still decent food. My review is just harsh because i have seen the restaurant at its peak and it was one of the best around, It's a shame it has fallen a bit. Good luck guys, I hope you...

Definitely the last time I order from here. I’ve been here & sat down in the restaurant twice. The service was okay, waitresses aren’t very tentative at all. The frozen margaritas are pretty good though. The food was pretty good the first time I had it but the second time it was just okay, not much flavor. I decided to DoorDash today as I was craving tacos and wanted to give it one more chance, and man do I regret doing so. I ordered the ceviche tostada and then a steak taco dinner. The shrimp in the ceviche was nasty. Wayyyy too soggy and soft. The avocados were very brown and there was nothing on the tostada besides a whole lot of sour cream. The taco dinner was absolutely awful, I couldn’t even finish it. The steak was ice cold and disgusting. Tortillas were extremely hard. Don’t even get me started on the rice. It was as if it wasn’t cooked AT ALL. So hard. Not to mention the taste was so bad. It’s as if they just cooked white rice and let it sit in tomato juice for an hour.
