My recent experience at the Richfield Dick’s Sporting Goods was incredibly disappointing and honestly, embarrassing.
My son and I came in to shop like we normally do—browsing, checking out new gear, and picking up a few items. He’s a growing young man, so of course he wanted to try things on and make sure they fit right. As his mom (and the one paying), I just wanted him to feel good in what we were buying.
From the moment we asked for a dressing room, something felt off. The associate was acting strangely, and I started to notice more and more employees circling around us. It became clear that we were being watched very closely. A man in plain clothes—no items in hand—followed us around the store, and it was obvious he wasn’t a shopper. My son even noticed it.
At checkout, another employee stood directly behind us, adding to the tension. It felt like we were being treated as suspects, not paying customers. We hadn’t done anything wrong—we were just shopping like everyone else.
What hurts the most is knowing that if we didn’t look the way we do, we probably wouldn’t have been treated like that. It’s upsetting to feel like you can’t even enjoy a shopping trip with your child without being followed or judged. I drove 30-40 minutes to this specific location because it usually has a great selection, and I’ve spent plenty of money here and online. But after this experience, I truly don’t know if I’ll return.
I hope this store takes a serious look at how it treats its customers—because no one should feel like a suspect just for shopping while...
Read moreWas checking out and whoever the male employee was, was in a mood. Super negative attitude and not friendly. He proceeded with the checkout process and then another employee came up next to me and they started chatting and gabbing about something, and I'm just waiting patiently for my stuff.
Put in my card, paid, clicked for a "print" receipt and then waited for my stuff. He handed me my stuff in the bag and receipt was still sitting on the receipt printer. He was still talking to the other employee so I asked if I could have my receipt so I could leave (as I was just sitting there waiting with my bag of my purchase).
He gave me a VERY sassy response "I was just about to hand it to you." (No dude, you weren't. You totally forgot about it until I asked).
I then proceed to walk out upset and annoyed at the situation and as I'm nearing the exit I hear him make a comment, a sassy comment along the lines of hoping my attitude goes up this weekend. I then comment back as I'm walking out that he's the one that had an attitude before I even walked up to his register and proceeded to walk out.
What kind of employee is so negative from the get-go and has the audacity to make a comment to a guest as they're walking out?
Awful Dick's...
Read moreworst service I have experienced. employees are reluctant to help and provide service, they purposely hide/avoid customers. I went in at 5 pm on a Monday to buy cleats, the place was not busy at all and there were at least 6 members on the ground floor. I went to the cleats area and requested 2 cleats at there tablet kiosk. Waited 15 minutes ( watching 3-4 employees wander around bored). then I had to hunt down employees myself to get help. 1st employee I talked too said it is his not his department and ran off. 2nd employee I hunted asked me to verify the cleats I wanted ( I was the only request they had as I saw there system order list) took her 10 minutes to grab the cleats and once she dropped them off to me, she was nowhere to be found. I wanted to try a different size of the cleats but NO ONE was to be found for help, I even requested the cleats in the kiosk. but after 15 minutes of patiently waiting and looking for employees in the area I gave up and left. as I was leaving the store, I saw 4 employees at the front just chatting amongst themselves. i went in to buy a few items and give them my business, its a shame they don't want it. Never will I give them my business. i will be going to SCHEELS...
