Uneducated sales people.
Walked in off the street today to purchase a prepaid phone for my Father to activate on my contract. I was told that this was impossible. Having sold phones for a living myself I knew this wasn't correct--but maybe Verizon has changed policy to ensure backward compatibility with their new 5G network--I thought to myself.
Upon calling Verizon corporate I confirmed my suspicion. Either the sales woman LIED to me and wanted the commission (do they make commission?) on an up-sold phone, or she simply didn't know (which is forgivable, but she said it VERY confidently)--which is honestly unacceptable considering she was a floating sales person from another store who was sent to this location to assist with the opening of the store.
In the interest of full disclosure, the phone I wanted to purchase my Father was $120. A newer contract phone, which she was attempting to sell to me, would have been anywhere between $500 and $1000. If I was unaware of transferring a prepaid phone to a postpaid service it's possible I could have spent between 5 and 10 times more than what I could have gotten away with.
To be as clear as possible for anyone else with the same interest--it's ENTIRELY possible to transfer a prepaid Verizon cellphone to a postpaid Verizon contract provided the prepaid phone has been activated on prepaid service--meaning you can't simply purchase a prepaid phone and activate it right away on postpaid service. It must first be assigned a phone number via activation with a prepaid service plan--but afterward it can be transferred to a postpaid...
Read moreThomas was very helpful when adding a couple new accounts to an existing account, made recommendatons about saving money and getting new phones without being pushy. The store was incredibly busy and there were only two customer service representatives available to assist. Evan was helping an older gentleman who had technical issues and was on hold with Technical Support. Thomas didn't make us feel rushed and answered all our questions.
Next day I had questions about the print out we received with our purchases and went back to the store. Thomas was not working, but Brett and Lissa were very helpful in answering ALL my questions and assisted me with a return. Evan came in for his shift and acknowledged me from the evening before and was very cordial.
I would definitely recommend visiting the store early in the morning if your schedule allows as evenings appear to be quite busy and they have lost staff members during the last few months. The customer service representatives have definitely "stepped up their game" and try to make the experience as positive as possible.
I called the two numbers listed on their sign to give feedback about my experience. One of the men told me he was going to buy them lunch. I hope he follows through.

Read moreWent into the store with a crying 12 year old. We had just received her new phone through insurance. Her other phone screen was completely cracked and unable to update all of her info to the cloud. The 2 guys in the store told us how to do this at home via our MacBook. I still was confused. Liz was working with another customer but saw how upset my daughter was and that I had no clue how to do this on my own. She quickly told the other guys to bring the phones over to her and she would take care of it. She was AWESOME! She seamlessly took care of both me and her other customer at the same time! She saved the day!...
