First off, let me say that this town really really needs a new theater to compete with them. As the other reviews say, generally nine times out of ten the movie experience would be better if you wait for the red box. The only time the movie experience here was decent was when we were watching mad Max: Fury Road in 3D. I could hear clearly and the quality was decent on the screen. At home, you can get fairly cheap popcorn if you have an air popper, cheaper than this theater. Your couches at home, despite how busted up and uncomfortable they may be,are better than the seats in the theater. There was at one point, black garbage bags on the theater seats. This here is why the home experience is better, plus at home you can pause the movie for your intermission. Now onto the topic of food. The food, is okay... at best if you get there at around 2:00 or so. To me it seems like they water down their soda, ice pack it, give you bad lids, and overcharge. The popcorn is generally lukewarm around 2:00 so the morning show is probably the best show if you are lucky enough to get the 'good' theater. The smallest bag, child size, is $3.50 a pop, not to mention tax or anything else you are going to buy along with your child size popcorn bag. There is hardly a way to balance your snacks at this theater. It's cup holder and lap or you're outta luck hun. Also the gummy worms are typically hard,or at least harder than they should be.The chocolate that you buy from the concession stand tends to be melted. The only thing good is water, the pre-bottled beverages, and ice cream! They jack the prices up since they have no competitors. Also, they lack bathrooms. They used to have four bathrooms, two female two male. Each across the theater, now they only have two, one for each gender. From what I've seen, if you aren't in the handicap stall it is disgusting. This place tends to hold a nasty bad experience, if you want to ruin a movie so your friend doesn't make you watch it, this is the place to go. This place has the kind of theater that if someone opened a dollar theater with only one screen and a decent concession stand and clean bathrooms the Ridgecrest Cinema would be out...
Read moreRidgecrest Cinemas is a true gem for our small town. Sure, it’s not some giant IMAX megaplex in a big city—but that’s exactly what makes it so great. It’s cozy, convenient, and it has a kind of charm that’s hard to find these days. I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s honestly one of the best things Ridgecrest has going for it.
The theater is always clean and well-maintained. The seats are surprisingly comfortable (especially the newer recliners in some of the theaters), and the sound and picture quality are solid—better than you’d expect for a smaller, local cinema. They’ve clearly invested in keeping the place updated, and it shows.
What really stands out is the staff. Every time I go, the employees are friendly, quick at the counter, and you can tell they genuinely care about giving people a good experience. Whether it’s helping someone find the right theater or being patient with a kid picking out candy, they’re always kind and professional.
Speaking of snacks—yes, it’s movie theater pricing, but the popcorn is always fresh and the butter game is strong. They also have a decent variety of candy and drinks, and I like that they sometimes have little combo deals if you’re going with a group or kids.
They do a great job of bringing in the latest movies quickly, and I love that they’ve hosted special showings and events in the past too. It gives the community something to look forward to, especially when options for entertainment are a bit limited around here.
Overall, Ridgecrest Cinemas is exactly what a local theater should be: clean, friendly, affordable, and reliable. It’s one of the few places in town that consistently delivers a good experience every time I go. I’m grateful we have it, and I’ll keep supporting it as long as it’s around. Five stars, no question....
Read moreA great hometown theatre. Over the years they have grown to the present seven or eight screens. The two main theatres are their largest, and offer traditional inclined seating. They've upgraded much of the seating to larger, more comfortable chairs, reserving the older-style seating for closer to the screen. The theatres are kept in good repair, clean, and very comfortable. The rest of the theatres are the more modern stadium style seating, offering a more clear view. These theatres are generally smaller than the first two, with screens appropriate to the size of the theatre, giving a more intimate atmosphere to the experience. There are two full-service snack counters. At times only one may be open if attendance or staffing does not require something more. The movie offerings are a mixture of big hits and lesser known offerings. They have been known to offer more obscure films if there is local demand for them, something large-chain theatres rarely, if ever, do. The business is locally owned, and has been a large supporter of the local schools and activities. When natural disaster struck, crippling the building, they began offering outdoor movies. Both to stay afloat, as well as to help the community cope with the stress of recovery. The staff is energetic, friendly, and professional. I highly recommend patronizing...
