First of all, congrats on the reopening!
No longer an easily affordable bite to grab.
The cost of the food remained the same, but the portions were cut significantly to match the new packaging. Bangkok house used to be my go-to for making delicious leftovers last, however it is now more of a luxury than something I can recommend my friends go to eat during their lunch breaks or to order on their way home from work.
The food is still amazing. Personally my fav place to get food from in Ridgecrest. Be aware the portions for delivery are much smaller than they were and are NOT WORTH the price.
Delicious for a rare treat, not good on the wallet. If you are going to eat Bangkok House - do not do delivery unless you like paying for less!
Again - amazing food. But me and my friends are going from frequent eaters to treating this place rare splurge and will advise others to do the same.
I do hope this is just growing pains from the recent change in management and I would love to change my rating to a 5 if there was a return to how it was before. I wish I could rate this place a 5 for the taste alone - because it certainly deserves it.
Update: March 17 The 'Buy 1 Get 1' on the popular food items is very smart and good, and addresses a majority of the issues I had with price not matching quantity.
Quality is still very high - the food is delicious. Rating changed from 2 to 3. Still too pricey vs quantity if what you are ordering isn't part of the 'Buy 1 Get 1' and it's inconsistent if other orders are supposed to...
Read moreI recently moved to Ridgecrest from LA and have been exploring local spots, and I think I’ve found my go-to. This place serves truly authentic Thai food that outshines many restaurants I’ve tried. The staff are incredibly friendly, quick, and welcoming.
My partner and I ordered boat noodle soup, Lao-style papaya salad, beef jerky, and sticky rice. The boat noodle soup had a fragrant, flavorful (and pork-free) broth that clearly had been simmering for a long time, developing deep complexity. The beef jerky was perfectly fried—caramelized with dark soy without being burnt. The papaya salad had just the right balance of shrimp paste and fish sauce to enhance, not overpower, the fresh vegetables. It was bright with citrus acidity, sweet from grape tomatoes, and full of delicious, funky flavors. The sticky rice was fresh and perfect—essential for anyone who knows Thai food.
Every dish was made with care and bold flavors, reminding me of home-cooked meals from my mom, who’s from Northern Thailand. I came here on a Saturday night and honestly wanted to return the next day. Now I look forward to Monday just for an excuse to come...
Read moreI didn't even get to try the food the oriental woman serving had a snappy attitude and no customer service skill what so ever besides a dumb fake smile. Right from the start i felt her hipocritisism. Racial judgement. Im mexican American by the way. I wasn't even finished with my order and she told me that is enough for me and chose my order for me then walked away just as fast with out even letting me finish. I ride a skate board and she probably thought I had no money. I've bin waiting for a while having this restaurant in mind to have a good meal and read a book but after her idiotic service and judgement witch she didn't even bother hiding I'll never eat there if she is working I liked the other servers attitude she was more welcoming and i wasn't even ordering that time I only had curiosity. The oriental woman seems like she serves well who she pleases and looks convenient. I would fire some one like her people like that are no good when it comes down to customer service. I only paid for my beverage and left I didn't even let her put...
