Florida Floors Supplies — Local services in Riverview

I have hired Florida Floor Supplies on two occasions. Once in 2020 for a townhome we rented and again recently on our house. The first time I hired them, it went smooth. No problems. The second time was terrible.

Our house is over 2500 square feet and does need new flooring in most of it but since we were starting IVF we decided to only do the room that needed it the most then go back and do new floors for the rest of the house once everything was complete with IVF.

While removing the old floor, the contractor decided to use a tool that needed a higher amp. Instead of going to my husband and asking, he took it upon himself to open my cabinets, without our knowledge, above my microwave and move my personal items in that cabinet around to plug in his tool. One of the items in that cabinet fell and broke my stove top. He did not bring it to my husband’s attention, in fact, my husband had to say something. Side note, had the contractor asked, my husband would have pointed him to an outlet on the patio that is not only easier to access but didn’t involve going through our personal items.

FFS did cover the cost to replace the stove top which did take a couple of weeks to repair but from that point on, it was as if they blamed us for the damage their contractor did.

During this time, it was pointed out that we were not quoted for removing and reattaching the base boards. It was about an extra $200. Knowing stuff happens, we paid this with no question, no argument. It had to be done, it’s only fair.

When the job was completed we asked about extra planks. We were told that if there were any the contractor would have left them. He didn’t but after reviewing our cameras we saw the contractor leave with several unused planks. We did send this to FFS and said all we want was what we paid for that wasn’t used. Instead we got from the owner it’s our word vs the contractor’s even with our visual proof that we sent FFS.

My husband did compare the invoices between the two jobs and noticed something odd. So when he finally got the owner Douglas on the phone, he was asking him about it and Douglas was rude, interrupted him, and insulting. (He requested Douglas call him a few weeks prior but never heard from him.)Douglas’ solution was to just cut us a check but we weren’t asking for money, we were asking to explain why it was billed like it was.

Douglas also pointed out that our job was small, implying that it wasn’t important to him. He didn’t acknowledge that this was our second project with his company, on a different house. Also, as I mentioned before we only did a small area because we were going through an IVF cycle.

Flooring companies are a dime a dozen and this experience was awful. I do NOT recommend Florida Floors Supplies. I do NOT want a check for the difference. And I would rather hire a kinder, nicer contractor if I ever need to fix a problem with this floor even though it will cost so much more, it’s better than having to deal with FFS and...

Do not recommend this company. A 3 day job in March 2023 to install tile in the bedrooms and closets of a newly constructed home prior to moving in dragged on for over a month. The length of the job was determined by the company. We had 8 days between the time we took possession and when the furnishings were scheduled to arrive. I purchased tile to match what was existing in the rest of the house. I also paid for the grout to be sealed.The rep explained the need to purchase excess tile to (1) make a smooth pattern transition and for future breakage. We also paid for additional tile.

On day two of the installation, only 1 of the 2 person crew showed up and on day 3 no one showed. Things got worse from there. With the delay in completing the job we were now up against an impending move in of my furniture. The floor is as never adequately cleaned removing the grout haze. The transitions at the thresholds looked haphazard. Over the next several weeks I was told they were waiting on additional tile and a different kind of threshold. Through out the ordeal, we communicated via text, phone and email with the company nearly daily. At times the response from the company was aggressive and defensive. Eventually the owner and a worker came back to clean. This meant moving furniture, mopping and moving the furniture back. They did not use a pressure tile cleaning machine. After walking on the floor for one day, the you could see the footprints in the grout haze and the tile was not evenly clean. Overtime trying to clean the floors we saw the grout had NOT been sealed because water and dirt absorbed rather than repelled. Just recently I paid to have the tile professionally cleaned and the grout sealed. The difference is evident. The issue of amateurish transitions is something we will have...

I had previous dealings with this company and had a positive outcome, so we decided to go with them for a second job. BIG MISTAKE and now I have to change my review to 1 star - which I don't think I have ever given! After their crew cut FIOS lines in our yard which took out the neighbor's wifi, I withheld a portion of the money until the situation could be resolved. Accidents happen and I understood that. Frontier agreed to rerun the lines and so it was just a waiting game for that to occur. We are only talking about a few days here, between the project completion and the final payment, but the owner and his office staff called me like a bill collector and even came to my home to take photos and demand payment. I realize that running a small business is not easy but I will not be using them or recommending them for any...
