Salon Elysian — Local services in Riverview

So my recent experience with Salon Elysian and Isabel in particular was a two parter. I went in for a significant cut ( like 10inches) and to dye my hair for the first time. After a consultation with Isabel we went forward with a balayage. Post styling I looked at my hair and my heart dropped! Balayage includes bringing in natural looking highlights but as a lifelong never dyed my hair before, even though I knew what I asked for, I was not prepared for any trace of blonde.

Anyways, I told Isabel that while I thought the look she did was very pretty , it just didn’t feel like me. She was so sweet and told me to not worry as there was a lot that could be done to address the blonde without damaging my hair. I did have a week to “fall in love” with my hair so I left with hopeful optimism that I could grow to love it. The weekend past and I couldn’t get over it. Plus I was noticing the completely normal effects of hair lightening on my post partum baby hairs!! Yikes! I was a little scared to go back in but knew I wasn’t totally happy.

So a few days later I returned, this time with a few inspirational photos and my notepad of questions relating to upkeep and technique. Isabel really took the time to go through all of my questions and put me at ease with what the next steps could be. We ended up glazing my hair to two shades lighter than my natural tone, so I was back to all brunette but now with these very natural looking golden brown highlights. It also completely took away and of the post bleaching dryness I had noticed.

When I tell you I almost cried with how beautiful it made me feel, I’m not exaggerating. I left a happy camper (at no additional charge!!) with a look that left me feeling beautiful and ready to back into the field post pandemic. I also got some great Frizz Tame products that have been amazing.

I have been going to salon Elysian for years. Never had an issue until now. First I started with Becca, then she ended up leaving so I went with someone else. Let me start off by saying that the person who recently did my hair, has done it before and she did an amazing job. Personally, I think she’s better at darker hair colors and reds than doing blonde and that maybe what I’m unfortunately finding out after this visit. First, the salon felt very off because the owner wasn’t there. Usually when she is there, everything runs very smooth. Second, I showed a picture of what I wanted to my hair to her, which was an ashy blonde balayage but instead I got yellow highlights. And third the PRICE .. I paid 380 for a balayage and three glaze I think it’s called I have no idea. All I know is, that is the most I have ever spent on my hair without giving tip. Granted I walked out paying 395 because I gave her a 15$ tip in which I usually tip 50$ or more. I’m not going to take away from the fact that she spent a lot of time on me. And I’m also not going to take away from the fact that she did a great job at my hair cut and blow dry. Hence the tip. But I did not get a balayage. I got chunky highlights and they are yellow. This salon has always been good to me and in no way shape or form am I going to not recommend this salon because again I think it’s a great place I just think I unfortunately got dealt a bad hand and not getting what I wanted. I’m not going to say the name of the hair stylist because again, I think she’s talented, blonde just may not be her strong suit. The salon can figure out who I seen by reviewing my profile. I unfortunately will not be coming back...

Moving from New York to Florida I was concerned of two things, finding a good doctor & a good hairstylist! I found both!

When you call the salon to schedule your appointment and speak with Sherry you can feel her smile through the phone. She works diligently and in excellence with each client securing the perfect appointment date and time.

I have been a client of Jill’s for several years and am a committed lifetime client. I could never leave the state unless Jill came with me! I have observed over the years stylists that truly listen to the clients. I have witnessed fantastic hair transformations!
