I would strongly recommend that people be very careful when ordering food here, especially the fried rice. I have been coming to this restaurant since I moved to my new apartment, and at first I had no complaints. Unfortunately, in the past month, I have noticed a decline in the quality of the food.
Previously, I ordered chicken and it was slightly burnt, but I didn’t make an issue of it. Today, however, I was extremely disappointed with the fried rice I ordered. It was nothing like what I expected. The dish was heavily over-seasoned, and the steak was not even cut properly for fried rice—it looked thrown together with no care. For those familiar with authentic Peruvian-style fried rice, this dish was nothing close: there were no onions, no eggs, and the presentation of the meat was poor.
What made the experience worse was the customer service. I never asked to not pay for my food—I only voiced my disappointment to the waiter and suggested that at least a small discount would be reasonable. The waiter said they would speak to the owner. Instead, I was left waiting almost 20 minutes without an answer. When I finally asked for the check, the response from the owner was that because I ate “something,” they would not offer a discount. To be clear, I barely touched the plate—I only ate a small portion because I was still hungry, and even then it was inedible due to the overwhelming spices. I even had to order flan afterward just to have something decent to eat.
The most disappointing part was not the $22 dish—it was the dismissive attitude and lack of respect from the owner. It is not about the money; it is about the food and the service. Sadly, this restaurant is close to my home, but after this experience, I will not be coming back. It’s a shame, but both the food and the way management treated a dissatisfied customer were...
Read moreI’ve eaten at Peruvian chicken places all over the country.. literally dozens and dozens. Never have I felt such an unfair value.
I was shocked to see my total was $50. I looked at the itemized receipt and was so confused at how they could charge some of these prices, but since they had my food all packaged all up I bit the bullet.
Want some extra sauce? The cashier that takes your order has no idea how much sauce comes in their “bigger” jar that’s available, and forgets to mention that is $8.75?? Am I paying for the jar?? INSANE. At that rate I could’ve almost ordered another entree.
I was willing to overlook the sauce situation even though it’s absurd. But when I got home to open up my food.. that was when I discovered the true icing on the cake. To preface, this restaurant will not allow you to get yuca or plantains as a side with a combo meal, which obviously are the sides most people want. I ordered a side of yuca anyway for $4.75 only to find when I open it up that it only comes with 5 pieces of yuca?? Never seen this in my life, nearly a $1.00 per yuca fry is INSANE. Every single other Peruvian chicken restaurant I’ve been too will give a heaping pile of yuca fries.
They did allow me to return the food and get a full refund which I greatly appreciated.
However upon getting my receipt back I noticed that there’s also a credit card surcharge that wasn’t mentioned on my original receipt, or by the cashier.. so seriously disappointed by this place.
If you come here I’d say you should avoid the sides and don’t buy the sauce or any sodas and you’ll probably get an okay value. But I’d really suggest avoiding this place if you are an avid Peruvian chicken connoisseur, as these prices and servings are a...
