We've been going here for years because we live nearby and love to support small businesses and farm owners. Wolfe's is family run and they're selection of "local" produce depends on the season. Items such as the kale that they sell for example can come from as far away as Canada depending on the season. This is what I was told by the tall thin blonde man (owner I believe) a few months back.
This market is conveniently located right behind Thornton's gas station on the corner of HWY 301 S and Progress Blvd.
All in all they're ok if you're in a pinch and they happen to have what you need at a reasonable price. They are not always competitive so it's best to go when they're running sales. Sadly you can't rely on the HUGE signs that they have baiting customers from the road since they do not always honor what they are advertising. The blonde lady that was there this afternoon was visibly bothered by my inquiry when she came from the back and replied "The prices went up. -They didn't get a chance to change the signs yet and there's nothing I can do about it" about one item in particular. Today the Kale that was advertised as 88 cents per bunch was yellow in the case. It's not always like this though. It seems to depend on the day and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook my son to look at pumpkins and go on the hay rides. The pumpkins were expensive even for the pie size pumpkins, we didnāt attempt to even look at big ones. Then we made our way to the register where I put the pumpkin and some popcorn on the counter by the register where a lady was. I assumed she was going to ring us up but nope a guy came up from doing something else to ring us up. He was in such a hurry to get his payment I barely had time to ask for hay ride tickets. Once, I asked for tickets they rushed me for the payment but took a good few seconds to hand me my items. Once in the hay ride I thought oh this looks cute. It was cute but $7 per person for a 10-15 minute ride was crazy. They also tell the kids there is candy at the end so all the kids were excited thinking they would get a few pieces of candy, nope! One piece of candy. For $7 per person I think they could have given them a small goody bag with a few pieces in it....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWolfe's is a shining star in today's world of dim lights. We've been going there for produce and boiled peanuts for almost a decade. Jeff and his family always greet us with a smile and a friendly "Hey, how've you been?" The produce is always fresh, and their knowledge of their products is top notch. They usually have some sort of specials that makes the value even better. Even without the specials, their pricing is awesome. The boiled peanuts are addicting. We like the Cajun flavor and always get two of the large cups. We've introduced friends to the southern delight with the regular flavor and let them try some of our Cajun just in case they can't take the heat. I highly recommend stopping in for produce...
