Safeway DC (Roanoke) — Local services in Roanoke

I deliver here about 3-4 times a week. Almost 3yrs now. Typically about 2 to 4 pallets at a time. Longest it's ever taken me is 9hrs. Never been called at my appt time. Usually takes an hour or so.

I avoid early appointments because they'll have me waiting hours for a dock then the usual 3 to 4hrs to unload and get paperwork.

Lumper is usually in the 180 to 200 range. Yes, if you're check in late to your appt time, you'll have a $200 fine. Even if I deliver 1 pallet. Heads up, you get miscellaneous charges. Ex: pin wheeled pallets when none are ever pin wheeled. Deliver 3 pallets and the receipt will show 6 or so.

On average it takes about 4hrs. From my experience the later your appointment, the faster they get you out. Fastest has been about 2hrs when the appointment is at 11 or show up after.(receiving ends at 11 but will sometimes...

Complete waste of time. Checked in at 330am for a 4am appt. Received the confirmation code (after waiting 20 minutes on hold). Apparently a “tech glitch” or some excuse is why by 9am I wasn’t given a dock assignment.

Ended up leaving without getting paperwork. Over 7 hours for a few pallets…not even a full load.

Drivers….I don’t leave many reviews, but believe me when I say STAY AWAY from this place.

EDIT- I was stupid enough to try them again 2 years later. Same mishap with their flawed check in system! I must “not learn good”.

If you like being aggravated, and late to your next delivery appointment, this is the place to be!

Security was helpful- so they deserve some stars.

Use the FreightSmith app or number- if you use the QR code to check in you’re screwed. Utter trash- not sure why they...

They don’t care about your HOS . More than 2 hours after unloading has been stoped nobody calls to tell me how much will cost or how long will take. I have been kept in limbo. The supervise on door 87 was rude saying me to go in my truck , when asked why nobody is calling me or tell me why I have to wait so long . Being here 3 times is enough for me .They do work always the same way and get you stressful, specially if you run out of HOS .Definitely is not a Safe Place to be . I will refuse future loads and never again will shop in any Randals or Albertsons . There is more to say but will leave it here. Horrible place. It’s not my problem how busy they are , they should show respect to the drivers...
