TLC is the best in their business in Rochester, bar none. I chanced upon them after a recommendation from a friend. I was shopping for four bathroom vanity tops, as well as countertops for our entire kitchen, including an 11 foot island. I was expecting to be able to afford lowest quality granite, because at other stores who saw our plan, this is what I was told was in our budget. What I came away with at TLC was gorgeous, top quality, glowing quartz in every location above, and also as a fireplace surround as well. I am thrilled and stunned by the beauty of our new counters ever time I see them in our home. If I had stopped short of a visit to TLC, for the next 20 years I would be looking at something second best instead—and I would have paid more for it.
Not only does TLC sell top quality product at very low prices, but they are also wonderful to work with. You really can’t find a better guy than Mike. He’s at the top of his field with good relationships with suppliers near and far. He spent hours helping me narrow my choices and showcasing products that might appeal. He really searched to find what I was looking for, and his integrity is palpable.
Julie is a color expert. With so many undertones in stone, there’s lots of space to make a mistake. She not only helped select our counter tops, but helped me choose paint that would compliment our decisions when I reappeared a few days later with paint chips. We more than benefitted from her decades of experience.
After so much thoughtfulness and so many careful decisions, I was out of town for the actual install. What met my eyes upon return stopped me in my tracks: precision perfection. I can’t believe how gorgeous every single detail was. At TLC they know how to knock the ball out of the park.
In a city as small as a Rochester, it’s a surprise to me that this business isn’t better known, and that so many people are paying more and receiving so much less, even just a few blocks away. For this reason, I felt like a detailed review was in order. Thanks you so much Mike and Julie for the stunning counter tops and for the hours service helping us get from A to B.
When it comes to TLC surfaces, the only thing more beautiful than our new sparkling quartz tops is the integrity, quality, and care with which this...
Read moreMy wife and I had an horrible experience with this company. I actually do not know what would have been worse—the experience we had, or the experience we would of had if there had actually been people involved. TLC Surfaces was recommended by Hiller's, a local flooring company. They informed us that they were priced well, and that they had done work with them in the past—all good things. We inquired via their website forms about the installation of new granite counter tops in our kitchen remodel. At this point, we would have probably went with this company because of the review and recommendation. They responded to the email, and we discussed visiting the shop. They gave us times that they would be at the their "showroom." It took us a while to locate their location because it is not easily accessible. We had to park a considerable way from the building in what appeared to be a miniaturized version of this small town's industrial area. So after driving, getting lost, and finally walking to the building, nobody was there. The door was open, and there was a lit open sign. The place was dirty, and it was less like a showroom, and more like someone's house with a large garage attached. We waited around for ten minutes, it was a ghost town, so we left. Normally, I would have been done with this business, but because they were so highly recommended, I sent them a message detailing our frustrations of driving out of our city to a small surrounding city to do business; just to waste time and gas money. They did not even respond, which made me feel like they had no concern for customer service. I would not recommend them. I informed the business that recommended them about our experience. And, I spent the time to do something I never do, which is write a review of this company, so that others do not have to go through the same...
Read moreInstalled a month later than estimated, and it seemed only because I emailed them multiple times to set up appointments. They had said they would contact us when the quartz arrived, but they definitely did not. Meanwhile we were living with/makeshift/no counters.
I was disappointed with the professionalism of some of the installers. I was in the next room within eye and earshot and listened to their whole conversation. We had a specialty cut around the window. The main installer kept commenting on how he would ruin the window if he installed it the way it was. I was nervous and when asked I said they could cut of the specialty notch- I did not want them to ruin my window. As we were discussing all this, they called the foreman and knowing full well he was coming the installer said he was going to go cut it anyway— why he didn’t wait for the foreman who had measured and cut the piece was very unprofessional. Something along the lines of, “he’s coming, I’m going to go cut it a ways.” I live 5 minutes from the shop. The foreman literally arrived at the same time he started cutting, to be honest it almost seemed like he saw the foreman walk inside and then started cutting. He came in and said oh this is no problem at all, we do this all the time, it won’t ruin the window we can fit it the original way it was cut. Too late, the installer went ahead with the cut and it ended up not being what we wanted, we have to do a makeshift trim at the bottom of the window. Still I’m not sure, because as they were leaving the main installer was still saying he was glad he cut it, he would have ruined the window if he installed it the original way. I had very little confidence in him and with his lack of knowledge I feel it is totally possible he might have ruined the window. If that was the case why did the foreman, measuring guy...
