I've been looking for a couch for my small apartment for several months now. I've sat on hundreds at this point; visted over 10 stores, both here in St. Louis and back home in Peoria, IL. I knew what I wanted, and I was probably being a little picky with color and fabric, but I was not finding it in any of the stores.; whether it was a big box store or a smaller, more expensive store.
On the day I visited Furniture Marketplace, I had already been to 5 other stores that day alone, so my patience was wearing thin. I was greated by a lady who I later found out was the owner of the store. She explains how their store operates: a small family run store selling only furniture made in the US, carrying name brand furniture as well as small business built furniture. Almost everything in the store is customizable as far as fabric, configuration, the insides, which was very appealing for my situation. She leaves us to look around more and the next 2 couches I sit on, I love. Up until this point I have not loved a couch.
So I decide between the 2 and then set to work on picking out a fabric for both the couch, and the 4 included pillows(!!). There are over a hundred options for the brand of couch I had picked, so I had no problem finding a few I liked.
At the end of the day I have purchased a small sectional with a chaise on one end and 4 inlcuded pillows for, I will admit, more than I was hoping for, but after the explanation of how the couches are built, I am very very happy with my purchase. I know this couch will last me many many years. I am also on a payment plan, so the extra cost is easily spread out over 12 months. Planning to update when I get the couch!
Also, the dog was so friendly and a good distraction while we waited for paperwork and the like and the family who owns it even...
Read more::::READ BEFORE PURCHASING FROM FURNITURE MARKETPLACE:::: I bought the Southern Motion Power recliner at Furniture Marketplace September 7, 2016. We also purchased the extended 5 year warranty for the chair. We had some trouble with the motor in June of 2020. When I spoke with the store, they told me there was a phone number on the receipt for Mega Product Protection. I started contacting them in June, trying to get a repair man to come out. Mega gave me the name of a company 4 Repairs. 4 Repairs said they did not have my policy or phone number associated with the chair. 4 Repairs told me to call Fast Furniture. Same issue. They both said they had no phone number that was associated with the claim. After going back and fourth SEVERAL more times, they eventually figured it out. 4 Repairs told me they would not make it out to look at the chair until August 20. I thought that seemed unusual but with the pandemic, I didn’t say too much. The repair man finally came out and informed me a new motor and switch was needed. After waiting almost a month with no contact from any company about the ordered part, I called 4 Repair numerous times with no answer. After threatening a bad review on social media, they immediately called me back. 4 Repair told me I had to track the part myself and gave me a phone number for a company called 4 Warranty. I called 4 Warranty today on September 21 and they informed me the part was ordered on September 1 from.....FURNITURE MARKETPLACE!! I had to contact the store where my chair was ORIGINALLY ordered from. It is just one big circle of nonsense, and I’m STILL without a working chair. I thought I would support a local business, but boy was that a mistake! This was a horrible experience, and I hope this post saves someone else from purchasing the joke they...
Read moreThe sectional and round chair I bought from here is terribly made. I have not had my pieces for even a year and there are dents in the chairs and the cushion in the sectional are already breaking down. When the tech came out to take a look he told us that the pieces were made from cardboard and that's why there are dents in the support structure. I call to find out details and customer service was poor to say the least! Fast forward about a month I need the tech to come out again to fix the hole that we sink into in the sectional and I am told I will have to pay the $125 fee for the tech to come out because there is not a manufacturing defect with the product. When you have to hoisted out of the hole in the couch you're sitting in, there is definitely a problem. Finally, they came out and added more stuffing to the couch, which only halfway solved the issue. I am completely dissatisfied with the product, customer service and warranties which I would recommend you not get. They pose it as if there are any problems with your pieces they'll take care of it. But reality is, they'll only fix manufacturer defects. I regret shopping...
