9/12/2023 Edit: I'm really done here. The local staff are nice but Meijer corporate is RUINING IT. This shopping experience is the pits every time I come here due to all these rules corporate is pushing down the line. My latest beef is THERE ARE NO DRESSING ROOMS ANYMORE!!! WHY?!?!? I'm told that corporate has made the decision to shut down this vital clothing purchase process for customers because of COVID. WHY??? So they said to make my clothing purchase, try it on at home, and then return items that don't work. How is this more COVID safe, Meijer Corporate? Please tell me the smart rationale of the Meijer corporate immunologist of returning clothing as a COVID-safe protocol in 2023? I'm no longer going to purchase a single clothing item here. ALSO- I purchased a spoiled shrimp tray for $16.99 at 3:30 pm on Sunday. I took it to a potluck immediately after purchasing. It was awful. I took it back to the store on the way home from the party (9:00 pm). I was told I couldn't get a refund because it was after 8:00 pm. All the check out stations and a store manager, nobody could handle my refund transaction. Which means I have to come back to this store a third time regarding this purchase. It's just so convenient for me to keep returning back to Meijer, but okay- more gas and travel time me to fix their problem. The Sunday evening store manager, Rachel, was very nice and apologetic. I appreciated her assistance. I still just don't have time for all of this. LASTLY- The pharmacy people are VERY NICE but pretty much every time I try to get a prescription filled, there is an issue that prevents my transaction. I always have to come back another time due to stock problems, even though I get a text saying my prescription is ready to pick up. I don't get it. The automated system is a mess. They are trying their best but corporate needs to fix the pharmacy issues related to inventory and customer communication systems. I'm beyond frustrated and will no longer be shopping here. BRING BACK LOGLI'S AND HILANDER!!!! I'm over big grocery chains. They are ruining it.
March 2023: Clean store. Well stocked. Prices arenât that great but thereâs generally a good assortment of brands. Clothing lines are frumpy but everything else fine. Do not like that it takes forever if you need to use a real checkout line instead of self check. Deli counter has decreased in options, as there are no cold salads...
Read moreUpdate: Just seen this posted and verified it that this happened to an autistic employee of theirs. I will not be shopping here again. Meijer, a company with annual revenues estimated between $12.9 billion and $21 billion, recently came under fire after bodycam footage showed the arrest of a sixteen year old disabled deli worker named James for taking discarded food like a fruit cup just to make it through his shifts. Reports reveal that James, who lives with a disability, took only food that was headed for the trash, not merchandise intended for sale. Rather than receive support or understanding, he was targeted by his manager, who allegedly kept a running list of every small item taken until the total exceeded $100, then called the police so James could be fired and arrested instead of warned.
The public reaction has been immediate and widespread, with growing calls for a boycott of Meijer. People are especially outraged that a corporation of such extraordinary wealth would criminalize a disabled teenager for taking food that would have otherwise been wasted. The managerâs choice to compile these incidents over time instead of providing a warning or help highlights a lack of basic empathy and a system that values corporate image above the well being of vulnerable workers.
This controversy now stands as a stark example of the disconnect between bottom line thinking and humanity in the American workplace. Advocates argue that a disabled minor should never be humiliated and prosecuted for something so small, especially when executives at the top continue to benefit from the companyâs billions. The growing boycott movement reflects a demand for fairness, dignity, and fundamental decency for all workersâespecially those with disabilities.
here for birthday cakes and they were sloppily done so we didn't do that again. I came to see what prices wer3 for food and a lot of things were more expensive than other stores. We did get a few things here since we were already here that were affordable. They had a horse you could ride for my sons for free which...
Read moreThey seem to have a better variety of food than any of the 3 walmarts here, same goes for the Meijers on 173, the 2 stores are pretty much interchangeable so what i'll have to say for this location will also apply to the one on 173.
I was able to find a good variety of essence oils in the pharmacy, they have a good "Travel size" section.
They have an in-store pretzel restaurant which has delicious pretzels and pretzel made food (pretzel hot pockets are the only way i can explain them, but they are made there and delicious), but the extra charge for dipping sauces is crazy high compared to the amount they give you.
I am not crazy about their electronic section, if you really want a good selection, you are better off either going to walmart, OR just going to a best buy. Their animal section is a hit and miss. The fish area looks as "Good" As walmarts, meaning their fish always look like they are about to die. However I have never gotten a fish from here unlike walmarts where they always DO end up dying. (Just go to a pet store and buy fish from them, they tend to live longer.) Then for cats and dogs they have some good items and some items you dont see elsewhere, however, then they have nothing I need anyway.
They dont have a good craft area, they dont have a good book area. they seem to not really have a good house area either.
The food section of it seems small, but at the same time, they have a lot. Unlike walmart, their sections are broken up in the middle so you have a middle aisle to walk through. I like this feature and I hate when im in the middle of an isle at walmart and im in one of the isles then i just so happen to need to go to the middle of the next isle. thats a lot of walking (I have bad ankles.) So the middle section Meijers offers is nice. not to mention the Mperks coupons, where walmart still has nothing...
