Rockford Army Surplus — Local services in Rockford Township

Super nice place. They gave a little of everything. I was hoping to buy a 300 blackout upper from them but they only had 2 5.56 uppers there. I only use us surplus for camping. It goes back to my BoyScouts days where everyone used military surplus for camping and backpacking. It helped that out scoutmaster was in WW2 and Korea. He started out troop after he got out of the VA hospital and it was part if his therapy. He ran the troop like it was the military. The kids ran the troop and the adults were there to make sure we didn't get into trouble. I started in 1978. We looked like a military group other then a BoyScout troop. We wore the Scout shirts and BDU trousers and combat boots. I. Guess we all wanted to look like Pete our leader. We would always tell the new kids to go to the surplus store and get our equipment. We were a troop of mostly poor kids so someone would always buy thier equipment. I love this store and am planning to go there to get more supplies. Go there before you go to the BG box stores. Military surplus will always be better then the commercial equipment. The people who work there are great people. Go visit them and...

3 wks ago I went in to buy a wallet . I also bought some other stuff . I work at Roadranger in S Beloit . A customer referred me there . I will never take another step in there again ! When I got home to change my wallet I pulled the Velcro and it ripped all the way across the wallet . Thee weather was really bad so we couldn’t drive to take back . O had also gotten Covid and didn’t want to get anyone sick . I had also had a sister that passed . I wasn’t gonna go in there and lie about when I bought but if I would have maybe I would have gotten help . I didn’t have my receipt and was honest about that but tag was still in wallet . All he could say was sorry unfortunately I can’t do anything. I didn’t want my money back just another wallet . I am sure they could have gotten credit on it . I work with the public and if you want people to come back then I would think you would want to help them. Word of mouth goes a long way ! It was a young kid ....

Not only is this the most thoroughly stocked and all-around best Army Navy Surplus Store I've ever been to in my entire life. For an old grunt like me to place Feels Like Home. I think it's my favorite store, For anything. Go there. Oh and for all of you Benchmade knife fans, the internet is no longer your best option for your purchasing needs when you find yourself heavy $200+ and absolutely need to cut something in half. I don't think even big box camping stores have more models of Benchmade Knives than this place does. Seriously check them out, or settle for second best. This is my first online review of anything. Probably also my last, that's how much I mean this. This place is the best. I might not always live in Rockford, but as long as this place is here I'll be coming to Rockford from my Surplus fix.
