ALDI — Local services in Rockwall

Excellent new store: clean, good employees (after one visit), well setup shelves, produce, etc. Larger than other ALDI stores around (in physical size). Normal ALDI offerings--nothing odd/different. Followed all of the normal ALDI standards that we enjoy.

One negative note was a difference in store layout that caused problems when shopping. The layout of the shelving/aisles was setup such that if you start by the door (as is natural when you enter) and proceed up/down each aisle doing your normal shopping, you end on the last aisle at the back of the store facing away and opposite from the registers. This flow is odd and takes an extra step to then move back. Other stores are setup such that if you shop in the normal flow of the layout, you end at the register (smooth). Not sure they thought this one out as well as other locations. It did not cause that big a problem, but did seem to cause odd "traffic" flow during a busy time in the store (everyone was having to turn around and go back again flow to the registers). Seems like an easy fix upon the next (or first)...

Rockwall is such an exceptional place! The Aldi at Dalton Road and North Goliad is a gem!

I was disappointed it has no wine selection (too close to a school, an employee explained), but the special purchase merchandise is always impressive!

Best of all, Joshua is among the friendliest brand ambassadors in the area, top notch, like Patti at Tom Thumb across the street and the female general manager of the nearby McDonald's.

Joshua engages customers naturally, offering product information and gladly answering questions.

He represents the Aldi culture well before his time, mid-90s in the Midwest, when Aldi managers were consummate leaders who unloaded delivery trucks, stocked shelves, and cashiered by keying each item by price memory, no scanners.

The current store manager wouldn't have made the cut in that Aldi era. I'll never bother that guy with another product question.

The industry needs more customer-oriented leaders like Joshua.

Store is nice, selection is alright and everything is clean but the only problem is the cashier's are very rude... I walked up with my cart and sat eveything on the belt. Cashier scanned it all and sat it in another cart beside him and then after paying I tried to switch carts (sat my phone an keys in the new cart with all my groceries) and leave the store but the cashier grabbed the cart and pulled it forcefully back to him and said "Do not take my cart thank you". So I had to then put all my items back in the original cart I walked in with rather than just switching them... Cashier Joshua... Next time be a little nicer to the...
