Shorter University — Local services in Rome

Shorter is a horrendous experience. Before Dowless took over, perhaps it was a better experience for some people. However, if you are thinking of attending this school sometime in the near future I beg of you to look elsewhere. They will allegedly be going bankrupt soon, and I believe that 100%. The staff is unorganized and Dowless and Humphries are the most incompetent human beings I've ever been in contact with in my entire life. If you are a Christian, you will soon recognize that the people that love Shorter and the people that run Shorter are very, very similar to the Pharisees and the Sadducees. There were cases where RA's were caught drinking on campus and in their rooms (this is not allowed) but due to the fact that they were big buddies with the staff, they were allowed to keep their jobs and face zero consequences. Others that were caught doing these things were fined or lost their jobs. It's a highly politicized environment. They like to lecture incoming and outgoing students on upholding Christian values when everything they are based on is a lie. They would always claim fees were due when they were paid and many things with money were always messed up. Whenever the staff messed up (which was always, whether it be online or at the actual school. I attended online and on campus) they would always make excuses or try to act like I was less of a Christian because "our staff are humans and make mistakes." This was a textbook response every time they made a mistake regarding money, classes, or anything else that affected my life. Bottom line: If you are trying to attend Shorter, you're better off going to a state school and getting involved with a Christian group and church there. You will save money and perhaps find people who are humble and Christlike. These people act as though they saved themselves from hell and can do no wrong. As soon as you meet Dowless and Humphries if you have spiritual discernment you can sense the evil and slimy way they speak and act. Good luck to whoever is reading this. If you go to Shorter,...

Ok we had to come here for my daughter's testing and all I can say it's a mess we could not find the building she had to be in so we ask staff we were told to ask our teacher. What? Told her why we were here and then she told us to ask some one else so we did that lead to another finally found where we needed to be. Then latter my wife fell down some steps that are busted (note most steps out side are busted) it was 5 yes 5 people latter for us to get a med kit to clean the lose gravel out of her hand we had to go to the presidents office to get any thing to help.

This is a university I laugh more like an out of date unkempt, dirty, nursing home. I would NOT send my kids even if they paid me.

Even to the point the grounds are not kept up this place really...

If I could give this place 0 stars I definitely would. it’s extremley expensive for no reason whatsoever. Everything is basically outdated and if you plan on living on campus expect the food to be disgusting. They will feed you leftovers yes LEFTOVERS. DONT’ COME HERE DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID, you’re much better off going to a cheaper public college. Also the orientation staff are brainwashed, they definitely must be. The professors are ok, some will want to help you and then others won’t give a single f**ck about you or your academics. Also don’t take Old Testament or the New Testament they will throw you in this class which will be a complete waste of your time because if you end up transferring that credit...
