It’s painful to go back to the memory with the dealership service representative. All I wanted to say is think twice before you decide to buy a Kia car. Read the reviews regarding buying experience and coming back for service. The rating tells all. One is high because they want you to get the car desperately and one is extremely low because their priority is not here. I have experienced both, good and bad. The conclusion is: no more Kia. I have to get rid of my car as a junk car with a mileage a little over 90,000 miles because the failure engine. The engine was under recall because it could cause fire. My car engine stopped working in the parking lot suddenly a couple years ago. I left may car in the dealership since October 2024 for them to repair. They agreed to replace the engine in the beginning after I provided all the documents they asked for. However, until April 2025, I never received a call for status. I went back to ask for reasons. Then I was told they need current registration to proceed. There is no way I can get it because my car will never pass the inspection if they don’t fix the problem. They asked me to tow my car back home otherwise they would charge me daily for leaving my car there. The representative had a bad attitude and treated me without respect. I almost had to beg for his services. He seemed do not care even I told him I probably would file a complaint. He said: Go ahead. I felt like I was led to a set-up trap after I was denied for the services for the ridiculous reason. I was extremely excited to buy my Kia Optima years ago with confidence getting from the 100,000 miles warranty. I believe they are trying to find an excuse to refuse to fix my car by asking for a document that I will never can get before my car can run. I believe I am not the only one that is refused for the services. Kia had to settle down a lawsuit in 2021. One of the complaints for the lawsuit is Kia refusing replacing the failure engine. I was not aware of the recalls and lawsuits until I found out my engine was failed. Those incidents should be alerting to Kia’s potential customers. Previous Kia owners like me had a lesson learned with their own costs.I am sincerely giving you my advice with my bad experience. Do some research and be cautious when you decide to buy Kia. I myself will never go back to Kia until they made progress in...
Read morePurchased 2 Kias many, many years ago, then one for my mom and dad, then 2 more around 2016 -- all from Ft Bend Kia. The last two were Optimas for myself and my wife. On my Optima, a few weeks after that last purchase, the trunk kept popping open. "No problem" they said, and replaced the gadget that keeps it from doing that. Later, the back floorboard was full of water. They said "it's just a clogged AC line, no problem". A few years later, all 4 windows fell into their corresponding doors and I had to use pliers to grab the glass and pull them back up. The driver's side fell with such force that it incurred a hairline crack down the middle. They said "no problem, it's the window regulators, typical wear and tear... $2800." I said "Nope, I don't think that I opened the back windows, ever, nor the front much either for that matter -- at least not anywhere near enough to wear the motors out." But they insisted, and I declined the repair. I resorted to duct tape to keep the windows up since i really just use the car for work and back.
I later found that many people had this same issue, and it was and still is an ongoing "Known Issue", with Kia window regulators, and you can find potential lawsuits all over the internet, but nothing has ever been settled. Some local repair shops have replaced so many of these they say they can do it with their eyes closed, but it's still expensive and they've forewarned me that the replacement regulators aren't reliable or guaranteed for more than 30 days either. But the car was paid for, so I've endured, driving it with all 4 windows duct-taped shut for the last few years.
Fastforward to 2024. I went back to Kia since it was under new management to see if anything has changed regarding this regulator debacle or if maybe the cost for repairs wasn't so steep. They said that they would have to hook the car to their computer and perform a new diagnostic as the original diagnostic they did a few years back "expired". (I didn't realize that was possible, yet here we are.) The price for the new updated diagnostic is $275. (Just to confirm that the windows don't work.) I think that I may have laughed at that point, and declined the offer. Needless to say, I walked away. Forever.
I'll leave my review as-is since my blood is starting to boil just by typing this. Hopefully you all have a bit better experience...
