Village Ace Hardware — Local services in Ruidoso

Their slogan is "Ace is the helpful place." Not so much. I'm very disappointed. Ordered a shed on line and was told the 40 gallon propane hot water tank we wanted was "in stock" and we could pick it up when the shed came in. Got the call shed was in so we hooked up a flat bed trailer and went to town. No hot water heater. No explanation other than "we don't have it.". No I'm sorry, no let us look again, no nothing! I told the clerk to LOOK again and she c!icked on the computer, disappeared and came back and said "no, we don't have it" Pissed off doesn't begin to cover it! I called Fox Worth Galbraith. They had one in stock and it was $90.00 less for the exact same heater. Lesson learned! I would have thought someone might have let the manager at Ace know what happened since HE'S the one who told my husband it was in stock and I told the clerk that, but that would be a NO! When I stopped in today the manager said "this is the first I've heard of it" folowed by "these things happen." He didn't really seem to give a flip that I was upset or that I had purchased it at the competitors store. There are two hardware stores in town, Ace Hardware and True Value, both names that almost everyone knows. Ace Hardware is loaded with indoor and outdoor goodies for your home, including the odd nut & bolt you occasionally need. I can count on one hand the # of times in 15 years when I walked in the door and someone didn't ask me within 30 seconds if I needed help with anything. Most times I don't, as I've been in there enough to know where everything is. But when you're looking for something that you're not familiar with, it's nice to know they're there to help. The staff is always extremely friendly, and actually know what they are talking about when it comes to plumbing, electrical, etc.. It's a great hardware store all around, and in a convenient location to boot. (by the way, I can virtually say the exact same thing about the store and staff at True Value. If you can't make it to Ace Hardware, and a hardware store is what you're needing, then True Value on Mechem should be your...

Awesome, very nice people there. Visiting for the first time. Grandson and husband stopped at four convience stores. Bought two coffees, and three drinks at one. Said good morning, how are you guys, no answer from any of them. They had bathroom blocked, they said bathroom was out of order. When we were leaving, again I said good bye have a great day again no response. Other three said out of order as well. By chance stopped at Ace and they were very nice, directed them to the bathroom.
