I MUST BE BATMAN !!!!!!!!!!!! I just saved some ones life....Well a lot of the vehicles are consignments which means the actual owner have Gateway classic cars sell there cars for them. Gateway classic cars rely on the owners to tell them the good and the bad of the vehicle. Gateway classic cars takes them at there word. The car I wanted was a 1957 Mercury Monterey convertible. It is at the Indiana location I am in N.J.. The vehicle list for 35,000, I offered 33,000 we agreed on 33,500. I got my enclosed trailer quote, 1,200. I paid for inspection report from LEMON SQUAD 360.00. And I am so happy I did. I found that the frame has a crack in it, and may have been poorly repaired... Rust though out bottom, a hole in the muffler, rear bumper was damaged and rust has formed at the damaged area. Front chrome bumper peeling. Where the convertible roof lays is rusted also. NOT ONE WORD OF ANY OF THIS IN THE DETAILS...A CRACK IN THE FRAME !!!!!!! How about all those pictures they take for the web site, not one of any of the problems, hmmmmm. I called the sales person I was working with and let them know, he said ill check it out. He did and even put a business card between the cracked frame and sent me the picture, then ask if i knew a welder? I showed the pictures to a few body people, none had great news, if its like this on that side whats going on else where.. Where was this car kept was some questions... The sales person I was working with is no longer there, hmmmm. So I decided to make a more reasonable offer, 8500 off my offer. That could help invest in getting the car to the point as they make it sound it is... Lisa the show room mgr. emailed me and said it will have to be repaired but taking 10,000 OFF SHE DID NOT THINK IT WARRANTS THAT MUCH......She must not have been informed that we had a deal at 33,500.. so my offer after finding the problems was only 8,500 off. The car never was pulled from the sales floor, after they where aware of the car problem. But that changed after today Lisa said it will be removed because she don't want someone to get into accident... But I made my salesman Dale aware. I sent the pictures to them, still nothing, now finally today they claim its going to get repaired. It will be removed from sales floor, for the owners to have it repaired.... Wow I am so glad I stayed interested in this car and followed though, so no one could have had as Lisa said have an accident.. I MUST BE BATMAN..........Pictures and...
Read moreThrough all my years of leaving reviews, I have never left a negative review until now. This review is less applicable to the Philadelphia location and more toward the corporation. I decided to list my classic vehicle and was greeted by a very nice representative named Tyler. I worked with him for initial photos on my end, documentation, and shipping information. I spoke with Tyler many times, including him sending me all the documents to sign and him letting me know they mark up the vehicle 12% over “my number”. I periodically checked to see if my car was listed, and I am typically pretty patient and realize things take time, however after about 2 weeks I made my first call to Tyler, then a few days later a text and the next couple of weeks repeated calls and texts. Once this seemed like it would be fruitless, I called a main number for the location, they let me know Tyler had left the company over a month ago and that the company policy is that they take the cell from the employee and don’t bother to have anyone reply or reach out to let the customer to inform. They then go on to tell me that I missed a spot on the contract and that’s why the car is not listed. I send back the corrected document and my car is listed a few days later without any of the details I requested and almost 30% markup from “my number”. At this point I ask for clarification on the markup and they gave me a negotiating room etc. speech (still seems extreme) and to also add the details I requested (and also like to see when I’m buying) and a week later, no changes to the listing. I then asked for my car back and they say I signed a 3 month contract. I realize this is the case, however I ask for corporate to have the start date be from the day Tyler left (and still willing to pay the $495 fee) which I thought was reasonable and there was no concession. I would seriously think first prior to listing your car with this organization and if you are considering buying from them realize they mark the car up almost 30% from the owners...
Read moreWent to have them sell my 2007 TBSS. Told them in advance it was daily driven for a while and I got tired of FB marketplace morons. It was a rare rust free stock TBSS as most were modded or rust boxes. Drove it to the showroom and the guy I spoke with on the phone was pretty clueless about TBSS once we started talking (first red flag). In fact, the entire staff there weren’t really well educated on them(second red flag). They’re inspecting the truck and they’re picking out stuff I already disclosed in advance as it was daily driven, this was a clean dent free truck mind you. But the expert finds these very tiny things and says I don’t know about this and this etc. Then this expert informs me the frame was welded together LOL(third red flag). Well I knew then and there they wanted nothing to do with selling it or maybe someone wanted it for themselves. At this point I want to leave but the gentleman sits me down and goes over pricing and how’d they sell it. He starts off at $8000, I put my hand out shook his and said cya later. The whole thing felt extremely off and the sad part is I own 10 collectors vehicles and was looking to establish a relationship as I was preparing to move some. Figured this would be a good ice breaker to see how things went. Just to make sure I wasn’t crazy I had a local mechanic double check the frame to see if it was welded together in “2 pieces” as the expert claimed. He literally laughed out loud after 3 seconds under the truck. Said choice words about the expert and said don’t go back there. Three weeks later at a car show I sold it for $18,500. Anyway, this was 2 years ago and the only reason I post this now because I just told my friend looking to sell his 70 Chevelle SS to go elsewhere as he...
