Thor Industries -Owners of Jayco...take note. I have a recording of this call... I called Seacoast RV yesterday to make an appointment (we will be in ME in September) 2 months in advance. My 4 month old Jayco ...has a 12V Dometic Fridge that has been broken for 3 weeks. After spending $400 on RV specialists & a wee fridge I need to use the warranty as nobody knows what's wrong. I'm told by Seacoast RV that although they are a Jayco dealer and do warranty work on Dometic Fridge (Dometic gave me their #)...that they are not paid by either to do warranty work. Furthermore, guy told me I didn't buy my rig from them so too bad. Really??? Is this Jayco's stance? I never had this issue with a Forrest River camper. He told me warranty work is not worth their time or effort. He actually wanted me to pull the Fridge out...to do my own repair work... although there is a bulletin out about the wire used to build RVs during the pandemic might not hold the voltage charge to the fridge...Jayco want to know why people do not buy extended warranties? Here it us...the warranty you are offering is not being honored!! I'd like to trade up in a year or so...not with this kind of customer service! This guy in your service department at Seacoast RV was so comfortable telling me all of this...he has done it countless times to others. I wonder...do your sales folks tell people that if the RV breaks down...ANY Jayco dealer with repair shop can fix it and use the warranty? What would be the point of buying an extended warranty with dealers like this? I'm sure Seacoast have sold Jaycos that have broken down in other states and been fixed by other dealers who do warranty work! Nobody buys a recreational vehicle to hang out at home! Shame on you Seacoast RV for allowing this guy to turn away Jayco customers!! He said your management would back...
Read moreI have two recalls on my Winnebego. Parts were ordered by this dealer and we were told to come in February 19th at 9:00 am when the store opened. Knowing we were coming from out of state the person on the phone said " they would get it done right away". They were told on multiple calls we were coming from out of state, were they actually said they would get us in right away if we get there by 9:00am. When we got there at 8:30 am we waited out front in our van to be let in when someone finally unlocked the doors at 9:00. While waiting, we watched a trailer being pulled into the garage for service. At the service counter we were told that we were a drop off and their one mechanic was busy and would be working on a trailer for the next 3 hours (her attitude was how dare we think we had an appointment.) Three hours would (they literally do not have any customer waiting area), put our service at lunch time. I was very polite and said I could not understand the miscommunication and said I would come right back if she called us when the mechanic was ready. She said she would but no one ever bothered to call back. There is no service department at this place. This store is a joke; filled with a large amount taxidermy bears and other killed animals, four or five employees dogs wandering throughout the aisles and mattresses stored in what appears to be the unmarked service entrance. I am following up with Winnebago as they should know how poor service really is at this place especially when one of my recalls is a safety recall concerning the risk of a fire that is a straight forward replacement of a single cable. We got the service recall from Winnebego and went over the issues and got it working while waiting for the call. Why do business with people that do not...
Read moreDANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT! If you value your safety and quality service, stay away from this place. I brought my travel trailer in for axle service. (brakes, bearings, etc.) Was advised that entire brake assemblies, drums, and bearings needed to be replaced. Upon picking up the trailer, the brakes barely worked. Tech could not explain it and said they would contact manufacturer of the brakes for help. After another week, I got a call saying all was working properly. Again, picked up the trailer but checked the brakes in their lot. Still not working properly. Brakes would not lock up with full controller output. Service manager brought in the former owner of the place who insisted that brakes not able to lock up was "very common." That is probably true for work done here. However, brakes always were able to lock up on my trailer. They would not do anything further so I took the trailer home. Went to another service place to see what they thought. After 2 hours they called and all was now good, brakes able to be locked up with full controller output. They said the previous service place did not do the burnishing of the brakes which is the last step of a brake service as stated by the brake manufacturer (Dexter). As an additional point, they also told me that, of the 20 lug bolts on my 4 wheels, 8 were only finger tight, 8 more barely tightened, and only 4 torqued to Dexter spec. Yet another dangerous condition as delivered by Seacoast RVs.
Further, the service tech jacked up the trailer by placing the jack under the axle which is specifically advised against by Dexter as there is danger of bending the axle which will affect wheel alignment and tire wear. Again, poor...
