I have lived close to the Red Balloon all my life and was always so excited to visit the store because it was very charming and they had so many unique books. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience here this year and was very disappointed by the customer service! After searching around town for a much needed book that I was going to use with a lesson plan, I saw that the Red Balloon was the only shop close to where I live that claimed they had it in stock (Which I was very excited about). I went to the trouble of reserving the book online and was told I could pick it up at the store. After driving to the store, I was told that unfortunately, their computer can be slow to update at times and that they had already sold the book that was "reserved" for me. You can imagine how disappointed I was at hearing this because I hoped to use the book the following day.
The employees who were working that day did all they could to try to find another copy around town but had to resort to having one shipped from another state. This was on a Sunday and they hoped it would be in by Tuesday for me to be able to use on Wednesday. They told me someone would call once the book had arrived. Monday and Tuesday both came and went and I still had not heard a thing. I ended up taking the initiative and calling the store. I was very disappointed (again) to find out the book had not come in, but I was even more irritated that no one bothered to call me at any point to let me know. I never heard back from them and am very hesitant to ever visit...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy gosh, where to begin? Iāve not had the pleasure of visiting this delightful shop in person as I live on the west coast, so my 5 āļø review is based on my outstanding online/telephone purchase. When an item I ordered online (okay, itās a Jellycatā¦.seriously how are they this soft and cuddly?!?) was out of stock, I received the sweetest, personalized email from Lily with suggestions of other comparable toys. When does that ever happen? I frequently order online and I have never received such friendly, caring communication! But wait! Thereās more!! I then called the store and spoke with Barb. Oh my word! Barb immediately joined me on my Jellycat bunny mission! I felt like I was her only customer! We had some ordering hiccups, but she was as determined as me to get this bunny to my daughter. That call left me smiling all day! Barb placed my order on a Tuesday afternoon and I received a shipping notification on Wednesday afternoon AND THE BUNNY ARRIVED FRIDAY MORNING in Washington state!!! Google should have a special 10 āļø review ranking for businesses as wonderful as the Red...
