I bought a ps2 from this location, and it barely worked. Making very loud noises, and I had to restart the system multiple times just to get it to work with any game. They offered to give me a different ps2, but when I buy.. it has to be mint. I just wanted a refund, but the person was very short with me and said, "Come in, and we will see what we can do for you." really fast. I said, "Okay", and they hung up as fast as they could. No I'm sorry for the inconvenience and no explanation. I will never return there again. Keep the overpriced $120. I'm a collector, and the only reason I paid a premium was because it was mint on the exterior. I can't believe they would sell a system that is broken. Do they even test their systems? Who knows. I'm sure they will say we test all our systems before we put them out for sale. Well, you definitely didn't test this one that sounds like it has a chainsaw living in it when you turn it on.
Response to owner: I said I never tested it until I took it on a trip as my traveling ps2. You saw that in the other review. I also said in both reviews that I tested multiple games on it. My games are near mint. These are all games that I play regularly on my home ps2. All these arguments are just strawmen. I knew they were coming, though, after reading the other reviews you responded to. It's pretty clear that you think you know everything, and the customer is only right if they sing praise. I'm no idiot and I've owned many PS2s in my lifetime. I'm no liar, and I take care of my consoles with great care. I keep them in original boxes or ps1 traveling cases. Your man on the phone was super rude to me. Maybe he is you. Either way.. you don't know how to treat a customer. The proper way to respond is, first of all, you're sorry and that you want to make things right. Whoever it was on the phone was super quick with their words and obviously annoyed (very unprofessional). Much like I was when I found out the playstation was broken after not trying it for a month. I just trusted you guys and that...
Read moreEasily my favorite game shop I've ever been to! My first time here a few months ago I bought a wave bird for my Gamecube. The shop owner, Cent, took apart 5 separate controllers to build me the perfect one! They even have TVs and consoles set up so you can test out controllers and games before you purchase. No more having to take someone's word for it, they really take pride in their stock here! We were also able to snag a hard to find jrpg for one of my collecter friends. It was in beautiful condition, and he absolutely loved it!
We were finally able to make the 2 hour drive out here again and we definitely did not leave empty handed! I was able to buy 2 of the games from my wishlist, and turns out their shop in Eugene has a third! We brought more friends this time and they had a great experience as well. They bought a copy of Pokémon Silver for the Gameboy, and Cent replaced the battery right there in the shop.
To sum it up, the selection is great, the prices are right, and the customer service is out of this world. Most shops you're lucky to get just one of these qualities, but all three? Definitely worth the drive, and we'll probably be heading to their Eugene...
Read moreI went in looking for a Star Wars Wii videogame. I was impressed by the selection of older videogame consoles and videogame collections. The owner of the store (He preferred to be called "Cent") greeted me on my way in. After some time browsing, he walked over to me and helped me find what I was looking for (Lego Star Wars Saga). While I was waiting to be rung up at the front desk, I talked to another customer. The customer and I got along well, especially after Cent joined in on the conversation. The store has a nice, quiet, and friendly atmosphere. I went back to the store soon after to sell my used videogames and used videogame consoles. While I got a good deal for most of my used videogames, the store would not take my used videogame consoles because I didn't have complete sets (console, power cable, av cable/HDMI cord, non-third party controllers). Still, I will be coming back. Also, the store has an Instagram account (retro_next_door_salem), which uploads what new inventory that they recently...
