Pitiful management! Took back a shammy after washing which I have always washed my shammys after using (at the car wash), due to the oil and dirt that always seems to end up on them. After using this shammy just ONCE I washed this shammy but when I'd went to remove it from the washing machine it came out in pieces!!! I was perturbed at the sight of it as I'd spent over $16.00 on this shammy needless to say I was taking this thing back! I returned it to the store a couple of days later and the gal working returns stated she needed to OK this through the manager, I had no problem with this because I'd shopped in this store all my life as did my family and was always treated well and knew how they ran their business. I'd always found the quality of their items they sell to be quite good and in fact it's where I purchased my last shammy that was of very good quality. Unfortunately everything changed that day that I took this shammy back for a refund. I was met by a man who was quite possibly in his late 70's (not the owners), who began arguing with me and accusing me of having a dog who tore the shammy up! I told him, no I have no pets at all yet I agreed it looked as though it was ripped to shreds by an animal!! He belittled me stating I must have done something to it and persisted in his accusations of calling me a liar! This was very embarrassing to say the least as there were people standing all around, (honestly I was fighting back tears). After much accusing he finally agreed to return my money to me (I wasn't about to leave without it, especially after all this)! He took this even further however refusing to sell me anything from that store, he stated to the gal "If she tries to buy another shammy do not sell it to her"! Seriously??? I could not believe the misconstrued management of this clown!! He was rude, unapologetic, and down right nasty to me. I myself am an older woman yet he treated me as though I was a teenager trying to steal! I know that Gibsons has never had this type of management, yet I have only returned maybe 1 or 2 items in my life to this store. I myself would of definitely fired this guy on the spot had I seen the way he handled himself and this situation, truly it was appalling. I did tell him he should take one off the shelf take it home, wash it and see for himself instead of accusing me of wrong doing when what I was telling him was both accurate and very true. If I ever see this guy again (anywhere he works) I will turn around leave the store and never ever...

I love the merchandise here. I could spend (and have spent) hours just looking around the store making a mental wishlist of various items from all of the different sections of the store that I wish I could buy. Since I do many side jobs as a handy-man, most of the items on my wishlist are tools and or building supplies that have very practical applications. The only reason that they get 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the repeated inaccuracy of their key cutting machine and the overly aggressive tactics of their sales personnel. As I stated, I like to do 2 things in Ace Hardware: wander, and look. I don't mind if someone asks me if I need help with something, but it makes me feel uncomfortable if they follow me around or if I am asked by the same person several times. If I am wandering and looking, then let me do that! Usually I will end up buying something that I cant live without if they just let me find my way to the clearance section! But, all in all, very cool...

This isn’t just any old Ace Hardware. This is one of just a couple of Gibson’s stores that still exist. Every time I stop at numerous stores around Salina looking for a specific item I always last minute remember Gibson’s is still here and they always have what I’m looking for. Today was yet another example. 70 quart cooler for a very reasonable price. I see reviews that say the store is “cluttered”. I disagree. It’s very densely packed for the space they have, and for those of us with sensory issues it can feel overwhelming if you’re just browsing around but if you’re on a mission for that one thing you can’t find anywhere else in town Gibson’s/Ace is the best!
