Have you every wondered what it would be like to start a fire in a monsoon using green wood? Buy some wood from T&D Thompson and find out.
This wood couldn't be any wetter. 90% of the wood still has the bark on it. About 1 out of 300 pieces is close to seasoned. Moisture content is close to 50% across the dozens of pieces I tested. They sell by the pound rather than the cord because they'd have to give you five times the wood.
The wood is enormous with many chunks weighing over 35 lbs which is find if you have a very large wood stove. Many would stoves couldn't fit many of the pieces unless they were split two or even three times. This could be a positive or a negative depending on your wood stove.
Everyone I interacted with was friendly. Before ordering, I called to ask about the moisture content. I was told the wood was "mixed" and that some people preferred a mix of green and seasoned wood since it can burn longer. This seems like an answer designed to take advantage of less sophisticated consumers. The driver navigated a difficult driveway and called to confirm exactly where I wanted my 6,000 pounds of wood. He was more helpful and professional than anyone could expect.
In the end, we're ordering wood from somewhere else and will some of this wood season for a year and the rest we'll burn in a bonfire to...
Read moreBought a load of firewood here but it turns out it's all green wood. So it actually is not ideal for residential firewood as their website suggests. This firewood will not work as it is not seasoned. I did call them about it but they simply stated that they don't advertise it as seasoned. However they do advertise that they sell Residential Firewood which would indicate it is seasoned. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy from them, but if you need seasoned firewood for your home you should...
Read moreGreat place to buy lumber for that special project. They have a ton of experience and can cut you a specific sized board. They cut me a "2x16"x8' long piece of Maple. They also offer kiln dried wood if you need that. Very friendly and helpful people. Update: I continue to buy here and I use their wood to create artwork. Travis is a good guy to deal with who knows his stuff and is very honest as well. Can't say enough good things about T&D. Glad they are...
