My husband and I made reservations for his birthday dinner (which was on a Friday night). They do accept walk-ins, but we made reservations just to be safe.
When we arrived, we were seated within the timeframe of our reservation. The hostess and servers were all so kind and provided phenomenal service from beginning to end. Randall was our server and he did a fantastic job and gave us great recommendations.
We started off with a couple of cocktails and a starter. We ordered the egg rolls, the Holy Roller cocktail, and the No. 80 cocktail. Let me start with the eggrollsâŠ.they were HEAVENLY! I loved them so much that I would order a plate for my main meal next time! The flavors were amazing, the crunch was irresistible, and the portions were fantastic.
Both cocktails were absolutely delicious. My husbandâs No. 80 tasted like a watermelon jolly rancher to me (so good) and my drink (the Holy Roller) was absolutely perfect in every way. It had fantastic flavor, it was refreshing, it wasnât too sweet, and it was aesthetically pleasing. My husband also ordered an Old Fashioned (his favorite drink) and it was perfectly made.
On to the entrees. My husband ordered the Wagyu Filet Mignon with lobster tail and I ordered the Wild Alaskan Salmon. His steak was full of flavor and melted in my mouth (he let me have a bite). The lobster tail was cooked to perfection and impressed us. Weâve had lobster tail at an expensive restaurant in Hawaii and the lobster tail here was just as good.
For our sides he ordered the sautĂ©ed mushrooms and I ordered the cauliflower. He was very pleased with the sautĂ©ed mushrooms (I donât like mushrooms, so I didnât try them). I absolutely loved the cauliflower! I loved the flavor with a small hint of spice. I would order those again and again.
For dessert we ordered a creme brĂ»lĂ©e pound cake and were brought (and charged) for salted caramel ice cream that we didnât order. I am so glad they did that though because the salted caramel was the best Iâve ever had! The creme brĂ»lĂ©e pound cake was phenomenal as well! Creme brĂ»lĂ©e is my favorite dessert so I knew I was going to love it, but to my surprise, I liked the salted caramel ice cream more. We also had a dessert cocktail (I think it was the No. 15) and it was fantastic. It was sweet, but not too sweet. It was the perfect ending drink to his birthday celebration dinner.
The food was out of this world delicious! Every bite tasted heavenly! I canât stop thinking about the dinner and canât wait to come...
Read moreWe were so excited to finally try Harbor as weâd heard from several friends what a great place it was. We splurged for my husbands birthday. It was a perfect evening and the ambiance was great. We decided to sit outside because the host said there were heaters if it got chilly. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful as we looked over the menu and made our selections. I was disappointed to find I would need to order a salad separately if I wanted that as a side as the entrees were very pricey and it seemed reasonable to get a salad as one of two sides that come with the meal. Oh well⊠We ordered a delicious but again pricey appetizer which was a special that night. Cream cheese and crab in a deep fried coating. There were 3 and they were small so almost $10 per bite. Literally. I ordered the scallops and my husband and son the sirloin steak, both suggested by our waiter Haden. We waited close to 40 minutes for our entrees after having our appetizer. It was getting cold so we ask if the heaters could be turned on. Our waiter came out after a few minutes and told us they were out of propane. He then came out minutes later with a heater from their basement which he plugged in and tried to get going which we thought was very nice. The problem was it didnât ever turn on. Mustâve been broken. When our meals finally came, we were thrilled and they looked amazing. However, after one bite of a scallop it was apparent how completely undercooked they were, white and almost raw. Nothing like the golden brown scallops Iâd seen in photos on the website. My entire meal was undercooked and nothing was hot. The brussels sprouts had a nice flavor but were so hard it was difficult to chew them. I ate one scallop, a few Brussel Sprouts and a few bites of the scalloped potatoes. My husbandâs broccoli was also very undercooked. The steaks were good as were the Mac and cheese side and green beans. We did not have any drinks other than tapwater nor did we have dessert but ended up with a $210 bill plus a $40 tip. The restaurant has a nice feel and our waiter was great but to spend that much for the quality of food, without a salad, bread or rolls served with dinner is just crazy and also to have issues with âno propaneâ in outside heaters seems unacceptable in our Utah climate. We also waited a very long time to eat. It was sadly disappointing. Maybe had we ordered the clam chowder and a salad we would have been just as satisfied and saved a lot of money. I hope itâs a better...
Read moreI live walking distance from the restaurant, so I decided to have my birthday party there. Friends gathered at our house and walked down for dinner. I made the reservation about a week in advance for a table of 16 on the patio. I spoke to Harbor on the phone an additional two times to confirm the party size and time of the evening. One of the main reasons I decided to host the party there was because of their great cocktail menu. I realized that with a large party, the service was not going to be quick, and we were okay with that, however it was so slow that no one was able to have more than one cocktail despite being there three hours. The real reason I am leaving this review is that, after everyone had ordered everything, the waiter walked up and said the restaurant could only split the check four ways. I was livid, because this was never once mentioned in our several phone conversations nor listed on the menu or website, or I would've avoided having my party there. At the table we're something like 5 couples and 6 single people, so there was really no clean way to divide the check 4 ways and then divide it again amongst a smaller group. I was sitting in the middle of the back of the long table, so when the waiter mentioned this I couldn't easily get up to talk to the manager, and before I could do much, parties at the table started throwing down cash if they had it, so they didn't get stuck paying too much in this situation. Naturally when that happens, it's hard to keep track of who contributed what and whether they included tax and tip. This experience completely RUINED what was supposed to be a celebratory evening since my partner and I were stuck with a $500 bill and we had to make arrangements with those who hadn't contributed cash to be paid electronically or by check at a later date. Everyone was extremely uncomfortable and I feel like Harbor was very dishonest in not bringing this up to begin with. If we had known, I would've made sure everyone had separate tickets and ordered their courses at once to make check splitting easy on the restaurant. To spring this on us at the end is downright lazy and unethical and I haven't been back to Harbor since. Really disappointed that my favorite little neighborhood restaurant that we had supported since the beginning would show such little regard for such...
