I appreciate that Arlan Market offers unique food items not found in other local grocery stores. However, I'm concerned about the quality of their perishable goods.
The meat and produce often appear to be in poor condition. The meat sometimes looks nearly rancid, and the fruits and vegetables often seem wilted or spoiled. While I understand this store serves a community that may have limited options, I believe the community deserves fresh, high-quality food.
I've had several negative experiences with their frozen food as well. Recently, I purchased a bag of fries that were so freezer-burned they were unusable – a solid block of ice! I ended up throwing them away, which was frustrating because they were a specialty item, exclusive to Arlan, and priced higher than other brands.
I've also seen concerning posts on social media and heard from others about getting sick from their meat. There's often an unpleasant odor in the store. While it reminds me of older, traditional markets, it's not necessarily a positive association.
I acknowledge that the store has improved in some ways. It's cleaner than before, and the new management has implemented convenient options like Apple Pay. However, they need to prioritize food quality.
I often hesitate to buy anything perishable from Arlan Market because I'm worried I'll either get sick or have to throw it away.
I hope Arlan Market will address these issues and improve the quality of their fresh and frozen...
Read moreIts a hood grocery store. It carries the bare essentials. But i hold nothing against it. Sometimes i go here just to avoid the lines at HEB. The fruits and vegetables are not fresh. But i can't blame them. There's not enough rotation to keep them fresh everyday. There meats are ok. . they have the basic stuff. Nothing specialized. I always buy chicken cause they sell it in smaller quantities for single ppl. I can get chicken breast for $2. As well as 6-8 chicken legs for $2-3 as well. There lines always short and when they get long, they are very quick to open a...
Read moreI like the feel of nostalgia that overcomes me when I am going through the aisles and hearing oldies coming from the speakers. Shopping is quiet and peaceful. Compared to HEB, the grocery selections vary greatly. There are items that are higher priced but I am willing to pay it for the benefit of supporting a more locally owned company. One word of advice is to check expiration dates because some items have passed their shelf life. This is something that I noticed at other grocery stores as well so I can’t criticize Arlan’s for...
