Hi, my name is Brad Overall, my experience with Clays has been fair. I purchased a radio from them in February of 2015. I purchased a Galaxy DX 959. I had several of the mods done to it, and over all the radio has performed as expected. I was happy to find out that the Mods that they did to the radio, did not void the manufacture warranty. After 4 months of owning the radio it developed a problem with the Clarifier and had to be sent back to Galaxy to be repaired. Galaxy repaired it free of charge and sent it back to me without reversing the mods that Clay's Radio Shop had done.
The reason for 3 stars versus 5 was the time. From which I ordered the radio until I actually received it seem to take forever. I'm trying to recall but I think it was close to 20 days. I think a lot of this time could have been taken off if I had gotten any mail with a tracking number, telling me when he had shipped. And allowed me to track to find its arrival date. I'm a truck driver by trade and I'm not always at the house. So I have to make plans. To get any packages that are shipped and if it happens to be at the post office. I need to know that it's there and went to pick it up. Customer support in my opinion is a joke. I had problems with my radio and the best answer, they could give me was bring it to the shop. And will take a look at my setup. I'm sorry I can't drive my rig 700 miles to get to San Antonio so that you can look at it. I described what the problem was and was then told that if the issue was with the radio itself that I'd be charged for it to be fixed. I did some research and got in touch with Galaxy itself. In less time than it took for me to find the phone number the technician had tracked the problem given me an RMA number and all the information, I needed to ship my radio to them for repair. My radio was back in my possession, the very next week. The only thing it cost me was the price to ship it to them. They fixed it and shipped it back to me no additional charge. Why can't Clay's customer service have done that?

Read moreI bought a Galaxy DX98 from clays in June of 2017. Had it times and set up as well. I was impressed with how fast the radio was prepped and shipped. Every thing was working fantastic up till a week ago when it seemed like it was over heating as it would work fine when I first turned it on but after about 3 or 4 hours it would bottom out the needle and not transmit when it keyed up. If I turned it off for a bit and turned it back I'd it would work fine again. I chkd all my connections and all were good so the next step was to get it chkd out but I wasn't going to let just CB shop do it as I like to same person that does the initial work to do ALL the work. Anyway...long story short, I got lucky and had a chance to stop by Clays on 2-13-18 and have it checked out. As luck would have it I was fortunate enough to have Clay himself look at it. After running a multitude of tests he could not force it to reproduce any failures. Now he could have said, well we'll start but replacing any number of parts racking up a substantial bill and voiding Galaxy's warrenty in hopes that solves it. Instead told me that intermittent issues like this would only get worse and to continue running the radio until the problem was either more frequent or the radio died altogether then get it back to him for trouble shooting and assessment then he could send it back to Galaxy for repair or replacement. There are only 2 radio shops it the country that I will let work on my radios or reformed to anyone and Clays is one of them. Thank you Clay for your honesty, integrity and ethics.

Read moreWent there to get my swr readings down low since I was having trouble doing it. They said they could do it for $35. I had all brand new installations done myself, they couldn’t get the readings down either and they replaced my new things with their old and used parts and still couldn’t get readings down. Clay the owner said I would not be charged since they could not fix it either. As I was leaving I was told by one of his employees that I would be charged something for a service fee. Well the fee ended up being more than what they told me would be a $35 job. They charged me $86 and some change for a job they couldn’t complete! That makes no sense to charge a person more for something they can’t do! $35 completed and $85 incapable to complete is s big difference! Reported them for fraud to my credit card company and was refunded my money back by my credit card company. Clays radio shop is a complete ripoff! Maybe the radio shop out in front of them can do a better job! So you’re saying you were going to charge me a $170 for a $35 job that you couldn’t complete? Nor did you or your helper mention any other additional charges! Yeah, that’s fraud!!! I have a camera on my truck where you stood right in front of it saying there would be no charge. Would you like to see it? My credit card company has and that’s why they refunded me. You’re 3 or 4 hour job you are talking about only took me 30 minutes to do myself. You’re business tactics...
